Liverpool vs West Ham preview
Liverpool could take a giant stride towards Premier League glory when they welcome West Ham United to Anfield on Sunday.
Arne Slot’s side hold an 11-point advantage over second-placed Arsenal with seven matches of the campaign remaining, four of which are on home turf.
And that home advantage should come in handy given Liverpool’s recent struggles.
The Reds have lost three of their last four in all competitions, including a defeat on the road to Fulham last weekend, conceding three goals in the process.
Fortunately, for Liverpool at least, they enjoy a phenomenal recent record against Sunday’s opponents.
The Reds have already hammered the Hammers 5-1 in the Carabao Cup and 5-0 in the Premier League this season.
If they hit another five this weekend, it’ll be a slice of history because no English top-flight side has ever scored 5+ goals three times against the same opponent in a single campaign.
West Ham have also lost each of their last nine visits to Anfield, conceding a whopping 28 goals and scoring just seven. On six of those occasions, Liverpool have bagged three or more.
For the Irons, it’s been a season to forget.
They are stuck down in 16th, they’re winless in four and the only way is sideways – 13th is probably the best they can hope for.
New boss Graham Potter hasn’t exactly worked his magic either. He’s managed just three wins in 12 games since replacing Julen Lopetegui, and his personal record against Liverpool is grim – just one win in seven attempts.
Even the Hammers’ away form tells a confusing tale. They’ve only failed to score in two of their 15 road games this term – bettered only by Liverpool, Brighton, and Fulham – yet only three clubs have scored fewer away goals in total.

I’m doing it. Despite looking slightly leggy in recent weeks, I’m backing Liverpool to create history by scoring FIVE against the same opponent three times in a single campaign.
Arne Slot’s side don’t have any distractions other than clinching the Premier League title, and they’ve also enjoyed the benefit of a week’s rest ahead of this contest.
West Ham have conceded 28 goals in their last nine visits to Anfield, averaging 3.1 goals per game. Liverpool, meanwhile, have won each of their last five Premier League games at Anfield.
It’s a big price at 7/1 with William Hill, but Graham Potter’s side – who’ve very little to play for – might just be on the receiving end of Liverpool’s recent frustrations.
