Los Angeles Dodgers Star Turns Heads With Comments About Rival San Francisco Giants Ace

Los Angeles Dodgers ace left-handed pitcher Blake Snell’s comments on Tuesday October 14, 2025 about Logan Webb shocked many people, including San Francisco Giants fans.

Snell credited his one year tenure in San Francisco in 2024, and the relationship he formed with Webb, as the reason for the massive improvement in his longevity as a starting pitcher.

“Going to San Francisco, that’s where I learned how to pitch,” Snell said in an interview on TNT before the Dodgers’ NLCS Game 2 against the Milwaukee Brewers. “I was around Logan Webb, and he’s going 7 innings. It’s like every game he’s going 7 innings. I just would talk to him like, how are you doing it, what are you thinking of? And he’s like, man, I’m just in the zone.”

Snell was coming off an incredible performance with the Dodgers in Game 1 of the NLCS on Monday October 13, 2025. Snell threw 8 innings, surrendering only 1 hit, striking out 10 batters and walking none.

He went on to describe that Webb’s advice helped him learn how to go deeper into games. His 8 inning performance was only the second time in his career Snell has completed 8 innings, with the other time being when he threw a complete game no-hitter with San Francisco on August 2, 2024.

“That year in San Fran was so big for me, just being around Logan and learning how to pitch,” Snell said.

Despite this being only Snell’s second career outing of 8+ innings, he has proven to be able to consistently turn out 7 inning starts when healthy, a hallmark of Webb’s.

Snell’s Comments Won Back Many Giants Fans

There’s no question that the Giants rotation missed Snell this season. Giants fans — and baseball fans across the country — rolled their eyes when Snell signed with Los Angeles this offseason, the latest ace pitcher to join a loaded staff.

They felt Snell just used the Giants as a stepping stone before bolting to their rivals, and didn’t care about San Francisco at all.

But Snell’s comments were really telling. He does have a place in his heart for San Francisco.

He could have credited a Dodgers coach or teammate for his longevity improvements, but instead he thanked Webb and San Francisco, the Dodgers’ most hated rival.

Snell also mentioned after Game 1 of the NLCS that he felt the most locked in since…his no hitter with the Giants.

Maybe instead of being critical of Snell for leaving, Giants fans will redirect their ire towards the Giants front office. If Snell liked San Francisco, it’s likely that the Giants weren’t willing to outbid the Dodgers’ 5 years and $182 million that they dished out to get Snell.

The Logan Webb Marketing Fallout

Snell’s comments could also be useful to the Giants in free agency, if they use them right.

If Logan Webb is the reason why Snell has allowed 0 runs on 2 hits and struck out 19 batters in the 15 innings of his last two postseason starts, why couldn’t he help other pitchers get better too?

Webb is coming off the best season of his career. He led the MLB in starts and innings pitched again, while striking out way more batters than normal. He actually led the National League with 224 Ks.

He’s known for being remarkably durable. In an era where velocity is emphasized, starting pitchers rarely make every start and go deep into games. Webb is an exception — and Snell seemingly wants to follow in his footsteps. It’s paying off for him.

They say iron sharpens iron. Why wouldn’t any star free agent pitcher like say, Dylan Cease, not want to come learn from the best?

Giants fans, what do you think of Blake Snell’s comments?
