LSU Head Coach Brian Kelly Fired After Third Loss Of Season

After many rumors circulated Sunday on whether or not the LSU Tigers would go through with firing head coach Brian Kelly, the team announced late this evening that they would be moving on from the 64-year-old head coach.

“Sources: LSU coach Brian Kelly was informed of the intention to dismiss him earlier today. The school is expected to inform the team of this development tonight. Talks about the terms of his departure are expected to continue,” insider Pete Thamel reports at 8:04 PM.

After Kelly’s Tigers knocked off Clemson on the road in Week 1, it appeared as though he had turned a new leaf in Baton Rouge. But a Week 5 loss at Ole Miss gave way to a Week 7 loss to Vanderbilt.
The final straw was Saturday night’s blowout loss to Texas A&M during a rare Death Valley night game. The 49-25 routing was enough for administartion to end the era.
Kelly’s overall record at LSU was 34-14, with a disappointing 19-10 record in conference play.
His buyout currently sits at 54 million dollars.
