Luis Diaz paid special tribute to Diogo Jota after leaving Liverpool in a £65.5m move to Bayern Munich.
Diaz has signed a four-year deal with Bundesliga champions Bayern after ending his three-and-a-half-year spell at Anfield.
The 28-year-old leaves Liverpool as a Premier League champion and says that would have been the ‘perfect goodbye’ had it not been for the tragic death of team-mate Diogo Jota earlier this month.
Speaking for the first time after the move, Diaz told Bayern Munich’s official website: ‘I’m very happy, it means a lot to me to be part of FC Bayern – they’re one of the biggest clubs in the world.
‘I want to help my new team with my way of playing football and my character. My goal is to win every possible title, and that’s what we’ll work for every day as a team.’

In an emotional post uploaded to Instagram, Diaz added: ‘Three years and a half that I’ll treasure forever. I arrived with all the dreams in the world, and I am leaving proud of everything we achieved together.
‘I have met incredible people, fabulous colleagues, coaches who helped me a lot, and extraordinary fans. Liverpool is, indeed, a special team, and I will keep everyone in my heart.
‘The cycle ends here, and it is so gratifying to look back and realise how happy we were. Not only because of the trophies we won, but for the union and friendship that made it all possible.
‘There were ups and downs, as there always are, but there was always truth. As it should be in a family.
‘It’s good to be leaving with the feeling of a duty fulfilled, and, most of all, to be leaving a champion. It would have been the perfect goodbye if we hadn’t lost one of ours in such a tragic way.
‘As I said, and I repeat, I carry everyone with me in my heart, but one of them in particular: Diogo. I will never forget him. We will never forget him. Thank you for everything. YNWA.’
Diaz joined Liverpool at the start of 2022 in a £37m move from Porto and lifted the FA Cup and EFL Cup during his first season at Anfield.
Champions League and Premier League trophies followed for Diaz, who scored 41 goals in 148 appearances for Liverpool.
After securing a deal for Diaz, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said: ‘We have succeeded in bringing in one of the best left wingers in the Premier League.
‘He brings real player character from Liverpool to FC Bayern – he’s won silverware with every one of his clubs to date.
‘As a team, we were able to work together to realise this transfer in a targeted manner and are delighted to have a top international who will give our team important impetus and also enrich the Bundesliga.
‘We would like to thank Liverpool for what were fair and serious negotiations at all times.’
Bayern Munich’s sporting director Christoph Freund added: ‘Luis creates a real goal threat and is a scorer, who at the same time works incredibly hard for his team.
‘He’s quick, a versatile footballer and brings an intense style of play to the game. He’s also gained a lot of experience at the top level with Liverpool and the Colombian national team.
‘Luis Diaz represents a complete package that will thrill our fans.’
Diaz joins a Bayern Munich team that won the Bundesliga under Vincent Kompany last season and reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
The sale of Diaz could help Arne Slot bolster his Liverpool squad further this summer following big deals for the likes of Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.
