Malik Beasley Lands With New Team

After a memorable season with the Detroit Pistons last season, Malik Beasley is yet to land a new contract. The biggest factor is the unfinished gambling investigation he is a part of. Not yet fully cleared, no team in the NBA has opted to sign him.

He hit 319 long balls a season ago, putting him just behind Anthony Edwards on that list. There were not many better or more impressive shooters across the association last year. The wing looked unstoppable on a lot of nights.

Detroit was two wins from the second-round of the postseason, a place they have not been in almost two decades. Being a part of something like that, certainly would make a guard want to return.

The decisions were made to sign Duncan Robinson and Caris LeVert by the Pistons.

Beasley though, does finally have a deal. It appears he will be signing a 6-month, $2 million deal with Partizan Belgrade in Serbia.

Let’s talk about the guard’s new team.

Malik Beasley Set to Join Partizan Belgrade

With the NBA season in full swing and Malik Beasley still unsigned, he’s decided to go play in Serbia. Partizan is a team filled with former players from the league, including a number who were in the association just last year.

Bruno Fernando is the starting center. Isaac Bonga, who starred for Germany is in the lineup as well. Jabari Parker, one-time top-two pick has been playing some good ball for the club. The two other starters are journeyman Shake Milton, and former Milwaukee Bucks guard Sterling Brown.

They bring Nick Calathes, and Duane Washington Jr. off the bench. Former Oklahoma City Thunder fan favorite Aleksey Pokusevski is there, too.

Even with all these guys here, Partizan has gone just 5-9, the EuroLeague competition a lot to handle. Perhaps Beasley can help fix that, while showing folks everywhere that he’s absolutely still got it.

The 16.3 points per game that the 6MOY runner-up averaged last season are his most in six years. The momentum was certainly still there, but it’s all about staying ready for the next opportunity.

And should Partizan officially opt to pull the trigger, this is a club that will be getting a serious lift.

Future NBA Return for Malik Beasley?

It’s very clearly not for a lack of talent or ability that Malik Beasley is not in the league. The investigation taking place has made it hard for anybody to take a flier, or want to be associated before the verdict is out.

Beasley was cleared by the NBA, but not the FBI. As the dust eventually settles, perhaps he can return to the league. The type of season the journeyman had in Detroit is one that many teams hope to get from their sixth man.

It is unclear at this point if there is an NBA out in the Partizan deal, but if there is one, Beasley would be wise to look to exercise it towards the later part of this year. If not, next season could mark a potential triumphant return.

Keep tabs on the club over on Belgrade, Serbia. Beasley should be ready to ball, and that is surely a team that can rise in the standings with acquiring a talent like this.
