Juventus are hoping to terminate the contract of striker Dusan Vlahovic, which will alert the attention of interested parties, including Manchester United.

The 25-year-old has been with Juve since January 2022, scoring 58 goals in 145 games for the club.

He played 44 times last season, scoring 17 goals, but the Old Lady now want to move on from the Serb and chop his huge salary off their wage bill.

Italian publication Tuttosport report that Vlahovic is due to earn €12m (£10.34m) over the forthcoming season, which is the final year of his contract with Juventus.

That makes him one of the highest-paid players in Serie A and he does not want to give up the salary that he has agreed.

The Serbia international is willing to move, but if he is offered a lower salary elsewhere then he wants Juventus to cover the rest of the cost.

Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Juventus are hoping to find a workaround by proposing that his contract is terminated ahead of the final year of the deal.

This could see interested parties able to pay Vlahovic his substantial salary as there will be no transfer fee involved.

It would be a remarkable turnaround for a player who Juventus paid £66.6m for in 2022.

Manchester United are on the lookout for a new striker this summer and Vlahovic has already been linked with a move to Old Trafford as part of a swap deal for Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils have already brought in Matheus Cunha from Wolves and are still working on a deal to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

A centre-forward remains on the shopping list as well after underwhelming performances from Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee so far in Manchester United shirts.

The Old Trafford giants must secure a number of sales if they are to keep spending though, needing to get rid of the likes of Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony and Alejandro Garnacho.

That is not necessarily easy given the huge contracts some of those players are on and interested parties not willing or able to match the wages they are paid in Manchester.

Ruben Amorim’s side have been linked with a number of strikers so far this summer, already missing out on Liam Delap after his move from Ipswich to Chelsea, and looking set to miss out on Viktor Gyokeres as he swaps Sporting for Arsenal.

Free agent Dominic Calvert-Lewin has also been touted as a possible signing after leaving Everton.
