Manchester United are leading Arsenal and Chelsea in the race to sign Premier League star Matheus Cunha.

Cunha is expected to leave Wolves this summer and can be signed for £62.5m due to a clause in his contract.

The Brazil international was linked with a move away from Molineux in January but ended up signing a contract extension with the Midlands club.

Despite putting pen to paper on a new deal, both the player and club fully expect a summer move to go through amid interest from Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Cunha looked set to be involved in an intense transfer battle this summer but Fabrizio Romano says Manchester United are in fact already leading the race to secure his signature.

It is claimed that talks between United and Cunha’s representatives are ongoing, with the Red Devils keen to get a deal done given the level of interest from elsewhere.

Manchester United have endured a dismal season under Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim and sit just 14th in the Premier League with five games remaining.

They can, however, salvage a woeful campaign by winning the Europa League ahead of a semi-final tie with La Liga side Athletic Bilbao.

A Europa League win would not only give United some silverware but also secure the club’s unlikely qualification to next season’s Champions League.

Wolves’ fifth successive win secured the club’s Premier League survival after they spent months in the relegation zone earlier in the season.

Cunha has enjoyed another impressive season despite Wolves’ struggles, scoring 16 goals in all competitions.

Earlier this month, Old Trafford legend Rio Ferdinand endorsed Manchester United’s move for Cunha.

‘Another one I’d buy is Cunha,’ Ferdinand said. ‘He’s made it clear he wants to leave, I would buy him if I was Manchester United.

‘Cunha for one of those No. 10 positions would be great because he’s a really dynamic player.’
