Manchester United are ‘reluctant’ to sell Rasmus Hojlund this summer despite transfer interest from two Serie A clubs, according to reports.

It was thought that United were prepared to listen to offers for Danish striker and sign an upgrade ahead of the new 2025-26 campaign.

Hojlund has largely flopped since joining United from Atalanta in a £72m deal in the summer of 2023, scoring just 26 goals across 95 games.

Inter Milan are keen on a loan deal for Hojlund with an option to buy for €45m (£38m) while Napoli are also in race to sign the 22-year-old.

But United have now reportedly become reluctant to offload Hojlund – and will only let him go for a ‘great fee’ – because they feel he could step up next term.

The Times football reporter Charlotte Duncker, speaking on The Game podcast, said: ‘Obviously if someone came in with a great fee for Hojlund, they’d accept it. But there’s a genuine reluctance in that they think he’s a better player than everyone’s seeing.

‘There’s a hope that maybe they (Manchester United) can still polish him over the summer and see Hojlund 2.0 next season.’

Saha names the two players Man Utd cannot sell

Meanwhile, former United striker Louis Saha has named two other players that the Red Devils should not sell in the summer transfer window.

Quizzed about a possible Amad Diallo exit if United end up signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, Saha told Express Sport with BetSelect: ‘Nooo! No! No!

‘If there are one or two players who should not leave, it is him (Amad) and Bruno Fernandes.

‘He is the kind of player who does not care where he plays. He has said it himself, he will play as a left-back or centre-back – he will just play.’

United captain Bruno Fernandes attracted transfer interest from Al-Hilal this summer – but decided to snub the Saudi club to stay at Old Trafford.
