Manchester City are considering a huge move late in the transfer window, with interest emerging in Real Madrid forward Rodrygo.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League for much of the summer, with both Arsenal and Liverpool keen on the Brazilian.

Both the Gunners and the Reds have spent big on other forward players and their interest in Rodrygo has not amounted to anything yet.

Manchester City were not thought to be in the race for the Real Madrid star, but their situation has changed as a trio of players are linked with leaving the Etihad.

Jack Grealish is set to join Everton on a loan move with an option to buy, while James McAtee is on the verge of signing for Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal thought to be worth over £20m.

Tottenham are also making an ambitious move for Savinho, with negotiations still to be done between the clubs but the City winger open to moving to north London.

The Cityzens are thought to want around £60m for the Brazil international, double what they paid for him last year.

With three forwards on their way out of Manchester, Pep Guardiola wants one to come in and Rodrygo has emerged as a leading candidate.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Guardiola has long been a fan of Rodrygo and see him as an ideal option to add to his squad.

Real Madrid are thought to be open to letting the Brazilian leave if that is what he wants to do and the ball is in his court.

However, the Spanish giants will demand a lot of money for the 33-cap Brazil international, with prices of £70m-£80m touted earlier in the summer.

Rodrygo has not been pushing for an exit from Real Madrid, but has dropped down the pecking order since the arrival of Kylian Mbappe.

He has still been featuring regularly, even if it is not always from the start, making 54 appearances in all competitions last season and scoring 14 goals.

The arrival of Xabi Alonso as Real Madrid manager could have been a turning point for Rodrygo at the club and after his appointment, the new boss said: ‘I know what happened. The end of the season wasn’t easy for him.

‘He took some time to reset. We’ve talked since day one, and I see him eager to contribute on the field and enjoy himself.’

However, things did not sound so positive at the Club World Cup as Rodrygo struggled for game time.

After he was left on the bench in a defeat to PSG, Alonso explained that choice by saying: ‘I didn’t play Rodrygo for a technical decision.

‘We thought we would be better off with other players. It’s not about his future’.
