Rashford reported ill for training on Friday and subsequently missed United’s 4-2 victory over Newport County in the FA Cup on Sunday.
However, it emerged that the England forward had been out partying in Belfast on Thursday night, just hours before calling in sick.
Before and after the Newport win, manager Erik ten Hag insisted that he would deal with Rashford ‘internally’ but refused to comment anymore on the matter.
The 26-year-old returned to training on Monday and has reportedly been fined £650,000 over the incident – the equivalent of two weeks’ wages.
In a statement released on Monday night, United have now attempted to draw a line in the sand, saying: ‘Marcus has taken responsibility for his actions.
‘This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter, which is now closed.’

He will be available for selection on Thursday night when United travel to Wolves for a Premier League clash.
Rashford’s antics have drawn the ire of many fans and pundits, not least because the forward has been in woeful form this season, scoring just four goals across all competitions.
Alan Shearer was one of those, saying: ‘He can’t keep doing this, he can’t keep wasting his talent because it’s not right.
‘He needs strong management, someone to get hold of him and tell him there’ll be huge regrets come the end of his career if he continues doing this.
‘When I see him play, it looks like he’s got the world on his shoulders so it needs sorting now because he can’t really deal with it.’
