Toronto Maple Leafs fans could face the biggest barriers to seeing their hometown heroes in person.
According to an intriguing report published on Bookies.com on October 1, the Maple Leafs lead the NHL in the highest cost of attending an NHL game for the 2025-26 season.
The report compared ticket prices, parking, and concessions for all 32 NHL clubs. The Maple Leafs led the way with the cheapest tickets costing $380 for a family of four. Tickets range across various price points at Scotiabank Arena. Nevertheless, the study looked into the cheapest ones, costing roughly $95 apiece.
In contrast, the most affordable tickets in the NHL belong to the Ottawa Senators, with an average cost of $120 for a family of four at the Canadian Tire Center.
As a reference, the NHL average for tickets comes in at an estimated $220.13 for a family of four. Additionally, $18.78 is the average cost of parking, with two 16-oz beers costing roughly $24.01, two sodas $13.65, while four hot dogs cost approximately $27.44.
That’s an average total of $304.01 to attend an NHL game. For fans wanting to attend a game at Scotiabank Arena, that’s a total of $466.43, including tickets, parking, and concessions.
It’s worth noting that these figures are the most economical options for those seeing the Maple Leafs live. There are far more expensive alternatives that could drive up the cost significantly.
Maple Leafs Not Only Expensive Ticket in Town
The Toronto Maple Leafs are not the only expensive ticket in town. Other onerous clubs include the New York Rangers at #2, followed by the Boston Bruins, Edmonton Oilers, and Montreal Canadiens.
Interestingly, six of the top 10 most expensive clubs to see live are Canadian teams. That situation is a symptom of varying price structures between the Canadian and American economies.
Economics aside, the top 10 costliest NHL outings highlight how the most in-demand markets generate the highest prices. The Maple Leafs, Rangers, Bruins, Oilers, and Canadiens are among the league’s most popular teams. And their home games are almost always sold out.
So, it may be surprising to see that, despite the eye-popping numbers, there is a consistent market for fans wanting to see the Maple Leafs, among other big-name clubs, in action every home game.
Toronto Announced Hike in Ticket Prices
Maple Leafs season ticket holders voiced their frustration at the hike in prices for the 2025-26 season. A report in The Athletic from March 17 of this year detailed how the club let current season ticket holders know of an increase of up to 20% in prices.
According to the piece, the cost for two season tickets spiked from $8,522 to $10,396. Over 41 home dates, that’s an average of $126.78 per game, per seat.
That situation has made holding onto season tickets prohibitive for some fans. Longtime season ticket holders voiced their concerns in the article, expressing their potential inability to continue footing the bill.
Ultimately, scaling ticket prices may force some fans to make difficult choices. That could mean dropping their season tickets, which in some cases have been in families for generations. But the Maple Leafs organization doesn’t seem worried. They’re confident someone else will pick up the slack.
