Miami Heat Forecasted as Top Suitor for Former MVP

Where will Kevin Durant end up?

It’s the question hanging over the NBA offseason. And with the draft just around the corner, rumors are swirling louder than ever. But now, a top insider might have just dropped the biggest hint yet—and for Miami Heat fans, it could mean everything.

Appearing on Bleacher Report’s NBA Insider Notebook, Jake Fischer spent over five minutes dissecting the landscape for a potential Durant trade. His prediction? Don’t be surprised if Durant ends up in South Beach.

“I think Miami still has pieces and the willingness, and are a team that KD would want to go to,” Fischer said. “That could ultimately rule out and win this landscape and this sweepstakes for Kevin Durant.”

Why the Miami Heat Make Sense

The Phoenix Suns are looking for two main things in return for Durant: draft capital and frontcourt help. Miami checks both boxes.

Fischer reported that Phoenix has been telling agents they expect to walk away from the draft with another first-round pick on top of No. 29. Miami owns No. 20—and unlike other teams in the mix (like the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, and Minnesota Timberwolves), the Heat also have a history of pulling off splashy deals at just the right moment.

Don’t forget: Pat Riley lives for these opportunities.

What Would a Durant-to-Miami Deal Look Like?

The Suns already started reshaping their frontcourt, acquiring Nick Richards and moving on from Jusuf Nurkić. But according to Fischer, they’re not done. He specifically mentioned interest in adding size—and the Kel’el Ware connection may prove critical.

Throw in No. 20, a big like Ware, and contracts such as Duncan Robinson, Terry Rozier, or Haywood Highsmith, and you’ve got a real conversation.

Fischer made it clear: Phoenix wants flexibility, and Miami has the right mix of players to make it work.

KD Would Reportedly Welcome the Move

Getty Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant has made it known where he wants to play next.

According to Fischer, Durant would be “open” to joining the Heat. He didn’t go so far as to say it’s a done deal. But he emphasized that Miami is uniquely positioned. It’s a destination KD would approve.

And let’s be real. If there’s one team with the culture, coaching, and postseason pedigree to handle the pressure of a Kevin Durant blockbuster — it’s the Heat.

Tick, Tock… the Window Is Now

While there’s no guarantee a deal goes down before draft night, Fischer believes the market will accelerate once serious offers hit the table.

“At the end of the day, that’s my best educated guess as to what the outcome is going to be,” he said of a Heat deal.

If he’s right, the Durant sweepstakes could end exactly where it began over a decade ago: with a team bold enough to take the leap.

And this time, Miami might be holding all the cards.
