Micah Parsons’ Post-Surgery Update Gives Packers Fans Hope

The Green Bay Packers and their fans are still coming to terms with losing star edge rusher Micah Parsons for the season. Parsons, who was acquired in a trade from the Dallas Cowboys during the offseason, suffered a torn ACL on a non-contact play against the Denver Broncos in Week 15.

Not all of Green Bay’s recent struggles can be attributed to Parsons’ absence, but since he went down, the Packers have dropped three straight games, falling to 9-6-1. Their latest setback was a 41-24 home loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17. Despite the skid, Green Bay has still clinched a playoff berth for the third consecutive season.

Parsons, meanwhile, has remained active on social media, giving fans insight into how he’s handling the injury.

On Christmas Day, Parsons posted on X: “Two weeks in, I’ve accepted the pain and the reality of this journey. Some days are heavy, some days aren’t, but every day brings its own fight. My courage, my strength, and my mind have all been tested. Still, I won’t stop. I won’t quit until I’m back.”

Then, on December 29, Parsons shared an Instagram story that read, “See y’all soon. Love y’all,” as he prepared to undergo knee surgery.

Just hours later, he provided another encouraging update.

Parsons didn’t wait long to let everyone — especially the anxious Packers fan base — know how he was feeling after surgery. He kept his message short but optimistic.

“Today went amazing!!! LFG!!” Parsons posted.

It is still far too early to determine an exact timetable for his return, given that he is only hours removed from surgery. ACL recoveries typically take around nine months, if not longer. While his season is unquestionably over, Parsons is expected to be back for the 2026 season, though he could miss the start of the year.

That uncertainty didn’t stop defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley from offering a bold prediction about his edge rusher’s return.

“If I were a betting man, I would bet that he comes back even better and probably breaks the sack record next year,” Hafley said. “So I’m going to put that on Micah and myself, and you guys can put that out there.”

How Have The Packers Performed Without Micah Parsons?

As noted, the Packers have lost three straight games since Parsons went down. Green Bay has also dealt with additional injuries, including to quarterback Jordan Love, which has compounded the issue. Still, the drop-off in pass rush has been noticeable.

Over the past two games against the Bears and Ravens, the Packers have managed just one sack, recorded by Quay Walker.

Despite missing time, Parsons remains tied for sixth in the NFL with 12.5 sacks and likely would have added to that total had his season not ended prematurely. The next closest Packer in sacks is Rashan Gary, who has 7.5.

With the playoffs approaching and Green Bay locked in as the No. 7 seed in the NFC, rediscovering some form of pass rush will be critical. Without Parsons, the margin for error is slim if the Packers hope to make any kind of postseason run.
