Micah Parsons Trade Scenario Has Colts Going All In

Micah Parsons isn’t officially on the move, but the Dallas Cowboys superstar has made one thing clear: he wants out. The All-Pro pass rusher reportedly requested a trade due to stalled contract extension talks, and the NFL world has wasted no time imagining where he could land.

One intriguing hypothetical surfaced via A to Z Sports, where writer Destin Adams pitched a bold deal that would send Parsons to Indianapolis, giving the Colts a potential franchise altering defensive piece.

What the Colts Could Offer

GettyWhat Would It Really Take for the Colts to Land Micah Parsons?

In Adams’ scenario, the Colts would acquire Parsons in exchange for EDGE Kwity Paye, a 2026 first round pick, a 2027 first round pick, and a conditional 2027 third rounder. On paper, it’s a steep price. But when dealing with a player of Parsons’ caliber, an elite pass rusher in his prime, the bar for serious offers is sky high.

This wouldn’t be the first time Indianapolis positioned itself for a splash at edge rusher. According to Adams, the Colts were “one of the most serious suitors” when Bengals star Trey Hendrickson requested a trade earlier this offseason.

“The Colts were one of the most serious suitors that emerged when another star edge rusher this offseason demanded a trade,” Adams wrote. “That player is edge Trey Hendrickson, who the Bengals were never going to trade away. The Colts being a serious suitor, though, tells me they would have been willing to pull the trigger on handing Hendrickson the massive extension he wants if a trade were finalized. If they were willing to do that for Hendrickson, who is already 30 years old, why wouldn’t they also be interested in going all in on Micah Parsons, who is still only 26?”

The logic checks out. Adams also notes that including Paye, a former first round pick, helps reduce the amount of draft capital needed, while still giving Dallas a young, starting caliber edge rusher in return.

However, Adams pointed out, “I’m sure the Cowboys would prefer Laiatu Latu, but I doubt the Colts new ownership would want to make a deal like this any riskier than it would have to be.”

The Risk and the Reward

Parsons is already regarded as one of the NFL’s premier defenders, a three time All-Pro who would immediately elevate the Colts defense into a new tier. But bringing him to Indy wouldn’t come cheap, in both trade compensation and in a new contract.

According to Cowboys reporter Mauricio Rodriguez, this Colts offer came in second place behind the Chicago Bears, who included Montez Sweat and a first rounder in their deal.

Parsons would instantly become the centerpiece of a defense already showing signs of growth under head coach Shane Steichen and new defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. His presence would also signal a new era under the Irsay sisters, who have yet to make a blockbuster acquisition since taking over control of the franchise.

For now, the most likely scenario is that Parsons remains a Cowboy and eventually signs a record setting extension. But if the standoff continues and Dallas explores options, the Colts could be a logical suitor with the resources, roster fit, and front office boldness to make it work.
