Mike Tyson left a 14-year-old girl shocked as he gave a morbid answer about death in an interview ahead of his comeback fight with Jake Paul.

Tyson, one of the greatest boxers of all time, will return to the ring on Friday night to fight Paul, who is 31 years his junior, live on Netflix.

The 58-year-old former heavyweight champion of the world has been curiously subdued during fight week and his proclivity to give brief answers continued in an interview with teenage journalist Jazlyn Guerra, known professionally as Jazzy’s World TV.

Tyson’s longest response came when he was asked what ‘legacy he would like to leave behind’.

‘In this fight, you’re giving a monumental opportunity for kids my age to see the legend, Mike Tyson, in the ring for the first time,’ the 14-year-old journalist said.

‘After such a successful career, what type of legacy would you like to leave behind when it’s all said and done?’

Tyson responded: ‘I don’t know, I don’t believe in the word legacy. I think that’s another word for ego.

‘Legacy doesn’t mean nothing, that’s just some word people grabbed onto. Someone said that word and everyone grabbed onto it and now it’s used every five seconds.

‘It means absolutely nothing to me, I’m just passing through, I’m gonna die and it’s gonna be over, who cares about legacy after that?

‘What a big ego if you think people are gonna think you’re great after dying. We’re nothing, we’re dead, we’re dust, we’re absolutely nothing. Our legacy is nothing.’

Jazzy’s World TV then said: ‘Well thank you so much for sharing that.

‘That is something that I have not heard before, someone say that as an answer so thank you so much for giving me that idea as well.’

Tyson continued: ‘Can you really imagine someone talking about their legacy? You’re dead. Why do you care? Who the f*** cares about that, I’m gone. I don’t care.’

Brooklyn-born Guerra said: ‘True. Again, thanks so much for sharing that.’

Tyson’s interesting response dominated the comments section beneath the video, with one user writing: ‘Mike Tyson talks to everyone the same regardless of their age.’

Another wrote: ‘I’m still crying of laughter. Way to inspire the kids Mike!’

While a third said: ‘Well that got dark FAST.’

Jazzy’s World TV has interviewed some of the biggest celebrities in the world, including Jay-Z, Denzel Washington and Kamala Harris.

Tyson’s fight in Texas will be his first in professional boxing since 2004, while YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul is preparing for his 12th pro bout since entering the sport.

Paul, 27, has won ten of his 11 fights so far, his sole defeat coming in February 2023 when he lost on points to Tommy Fury, the younger brother of heavyweight superstar Tyson Fury.

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson will stream live exclusively on Netflix on Friday 15 November.
