Minnesota Timberwolves Coach Takes Cheeky Shot at JJ Redick

The Minnesota Timberwolves are fighting back from a slow start. Currently, they sit sixth in the Western Conference standings as they try to get into the top four early on in the season. After making back-to-back Western Conference Finals appearances, a lot is expected of them.

Chris Finch is in charge of leading the Timberwolves to a deep playoff run. Finch has done a very good job with the team. He recently sat down with Zach Lowe for an appearance on the Zach Lowe Show and took a cheeky shot at Lakers coach JJ Redick.

Minnesota Timberwolves’ Chris Finch Takes Funny Shot at JJ Redick

While discussing podcasting, Finch made a joke at Redick’s expense.

“I mean, it will qualify you to coach the Lakers, you know?”

Finch was having some fun on a podcast where they talked a lot of basketball. Redick was famously chosen as the Lakers’ head coach without any previous head coaching experience. He had been calling games for ESPN and doing his podcast prior to getting the job.

While Redick has been the coach in LA, he has done a pretty good job with the team. The Lakers were the third seed in the West a year ago in his first full year as a head coach. Of course, they were eliminated by Finch’s Wolves in the first round of the playoffs.

The Timberwolves are just behind the Lakers in the West standings at the moment. Yet, Minnesota is eighth in net rating, while the Lakers are 21st. The Wolves have been the more efficient team up to this point.

Chris Finch Has the Timberwolves Thinking Championship

Finch has the Timberwolves thinking that they can be contenders for the NBA title. Anthony Edwards missed four games early on, and Minnesota was able to weather that storm. Finch clearly can coach this group.

Redick and the Lakers will have a shot to get revenge on the Timberwolves in the playoffs, as long as both teams keep playing well. With the Timberwolves making back-to-back Western Conference Finals appearances, they feel like they have the upper hand in that matchup.

LeBron James is set to return to the Lakers soon. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves are fairly healthy at the moment. As long as Edwards stays healthy, Minnesota should be considered a title contender this season.
