Aston Villa have been handed an injury scare with Morgan Rogers ahead of the new Premier League season.

Unai Emery’s side sealed a 4-0 victory against Roma on Wednesday night with Emi Buendia, Jacob Ramsey, Ollie Watkins and Donyell Malen all on target.

Rogers, meanwhile, was brought on as a substitute for the start of the second half but suffered an ankle injury in just under three minutes.

The 23-year-old required treatment from Villa’s medical team and was helped to his feet.

The midfielder attempted to carry on but then signalled to the bench that he was unable to continue and walked off the pitch as he was replaced by Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba in the 52nd minute.
