The Cleveland Browns weren’t able to carry the momentum from their Week 7 win over the Miami Dolphins into Week 8, as they were swept aside by the New England Patriots. With the final score settling in at 32-13, the Browns suffered yet another disappointing loss in what appears set to be their latest losing season.
By now, the Browns’ longstanding stretch of losing has become well-documented in the world of sports, and there appears to be no end in sight. According to a new study from sportsbetting.ag, Cleveland’s consistent inability to put together winning squads has become so bad that it has led to their fanbase earning a rather dubious label.
Browns Found to Have ‘Most Depressed’ NFL Fanbase
sportsbetting,agThe Browns’ continued struggles have earned them an unfortunate title
Since the turn of the century, the Browns have been arguably the worst team in all of professional sports, not just the NFL. During that time, they have had just three playoff appearances, which have yielded a single playoff win back in 2020. Despite continually rebuilding, Cleveland has never managed to actually put all of the pieces of the puzzle together.
The biggest problem the Browns face on a yearly basis is their inability to find a consistent option at quarterback. Since 2000, Cleveland has had 41 different players start for them at quarterback, which is easily the highest figure in the league. And if Dillon Gabriel continues to struggle under center, that number could get bumped up to 42 later this season, as fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders is a candidate to get some starting action in the near future.
With the team unable to find a franchise quarterback, the losses have continued to pile up, and that hasn’t exactly made things easy for the franchise’s fanbase. While other teams in the NFL have struggled since 2000, none of them have been as bad as the Browns. And according to a recent study conducted on X, Cleveland has been found to have the league’s “most depressed” fanbase, with the results based on the fans’ activity on the popular social media platform.
Is There Any Hope for the Browns Moving Forward?

Expectations weren’t necessarily high for the Browns this season, but the situation has been made worse for fans because there just does not seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel right now. While the defense has been solid so far, the offense just can’t get anything going. Gabriel has only started four games, but he hasn’t exactly been great, which is why the calls for Sanders to find his way under center are growing louder with each passing day.
At some point, Cleveland will find a quarterback who can come in and turn the tides of the franchise, but it remains to be seen when that will happen. The Browns appear to be on track to earn another high pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, which they could use to target their quarterback of the future. Until they find an answer at the most important position in all of football, though, chances are the team will continue to struggle for the time being.
