Russell Martin’s nightmare stint in charge of Rangers came to an end on Sunday night, with attention turning to who will replace him as manager.
The 39-year-old was only appointed as Gers boss in June but has been sacked after just 17 games in charge of the club.
The former Southampton manager won just five of those games in charge, losing six of them, and a 1-1 draw at Falkirk proved to be his final game as manager of the Glasgow giants.
That draw left Rangers eighth in the Scottish Premiership, with one win from seven league games under Martin.
The Englishman had to be flanked by security after the match on Sunday and was given a police escort as he left the ground, with angry Rangers fans making their feelings known.

Unsurprisingly, the club confirmed that Martin’s brief spell at Ibrox has come to an end on Sunday evening, with coaches Matt Gill and Mike Williamson also departing.
A range of candidates are believed to be in the running to replace him, with a former Rangers player the early favourite to be the next permanent manager.
Rangers Football Club statement
Rangers Football Club confirms that it has parted company with Head Coach, Russell Martin.
While all transition periods require some time, results have not met the club’s expectations.
Assistant Head Coach, Matt Gill, and First-Team Coach, Mike Williamson, will also be departing.
Russell and his staff have worked exceptionally hard throughout their time at the club. We thank them for their efforts and wish them well for the future.
Further updates from the club will follow in due course.
Who is favourite to be next Rangers manager?
The early favourite to replace Martin at Ibrox is Kevin Muscat, the current manager of Chinese side Shanghai Port.
The Australian spent one season with Rangers as a player in 2002/03, making 29 appearances and winning the treble of the Scottish Premier League, Scottish Cup and League Cup.
Muscat was best known in England for a long stint with Wolves and a spell at Millwall, reaching the FA Cup final in 2004.
In management he has won league titles in three different countries: the A League with Melbourne Victory in 2015 and 2018, the J League with Yokohama F Marinos in 2022 and the Chinese Super League with Shanghai Port in 2024.
Also believed to be in contention are the likes of former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard, ex-Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl.
Sean Dyche, formerly of Burnley and Everton, is also in the running, as is current Hearts boss Derek McInness.

Rohl is a highly rated young manager at just 36 years old, who left Sheffield Wednesday during the turmoil at the club over the summer.
It is, so far, his only job as a manager, having spent time coaching with RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich, Southampton and Germany.
Gerrard won the Scottish Premiership with Rangers in 2021 before leaving for Aston Villa but has been out of work since departing Saudi side Al-Ettifaq in January.
