NFL Announces Final Decision on Seahawks Player’s Suspension

The Seattle Seahawks had a fantastic Week 15 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday, December 18, with a 38-37 final score in overtime. But, one Seahawks favorite is in hot water with the NFL following the game, and they’ve finally announced their final decision on whether he’ll be allowed to play with the team on Sunday, December 28, against the Carolina Panthers.

Following the Week 15 win, the Seahawks are a healthy 12-3 and a game ahead of both the Rams and San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West, leading the pack. The win greatly increased the team’s chances of the No. 1 NFC seed, with a bye and home-field advantage. The win also scored the Seahawks a guaranteed spot in the postseason, according to NFL research.

Even though it was a great game, Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold isn’t satisfied. “I didn’t think we played our best football,” he said after the win. “I certainly didn’t play my best football. We’ve got a lot of work to do there, but at the end of the day we won.”

Darnold added, “That team in that locker room, all the guys in that locker room, we work so hard for moments like this. Obviously, we’ve got a lot of work to do, and we’re going to continue to push and get better, but those guys in the locker room deserve a win like that against a really, really good team.”

Darnold closed out the game 22-of-34 passing with two touchdown passes, the two picks and threw two two-point conversions.

NFL Hands Down Final Punishment to Seattle Seahawks Player

On Friday, December 19, the NFL announced that they were suspending Seahawks linebacker Derick Hall for one game following his actions in Thursday’s game against Los Angeles. But, that’s not the end to the story.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, “Per the NFL: Seahawks linebacker Derick Hall has been suspended for one game for an act of unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct during Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.”

He added, “During the first quarter, Hall unnecessarily stepped on the leg of Rams guard Kevin Dotson at the end of a play while he was on the ground. Hall will be eligible to return to the Seahawks’ active roster on Monday, Dec. 29, following the team’s Dec. 28 game against the Carolina Panthers.”

Hall appealed the decision. But, the NFL announced on Monday, December 22, that they’re sticking to their original ruling, and Hall won’t be allowed to appear in the Panthers game.

“Seattle LB Derick Hall’s one game suspension was upheld today,” Schefter stated on X.

Seattle Seahawks Head Coach Mike Macdonald Praises Sam Darnold

It will hurt Seattle to have Hall out, but it’s nothing they can’t handle. This team is making history in the 2025-26 season, and their story is just beginning.

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald had glowing words for quarterback Sam Darnold after the win over the Rams, stating that their “story has stayed the same since day one with Sam.”

Macdonald added, “It’s everybody else that has different stories. This is a guy that we watch every day. Same guy every day no matter the circumstance. He’s an ultimate competitor.”
