NFL Announces Punishment for Three Vikings Players

The Minnesota Vikings have their attention on their Week 11 game as they face the Chicago Bears. However, three players on the team received bad news on November 15 as the NFL announced its fines for Week 10.

As part of the fine process, players are notified of any violations and have the right to appeal. Appeals are reviewed by officers and former NFL players Derrick Brooks, Ramon Foster, or Jordy Nelson, who are jointly appointed and compensated by the NFL and NFLPA. Their decisions are final and binding.

Of the three players, Vikings’ Dallas Turner is the one who received the harshest fines, considering the NFL financially penalized the player for two separate actions.

Turner’s first fine from the league came in the first quarter at the 15:00 minute mark for unnecessary roughness as he delivered a Hip-drop tackle. As a result of this action from the Minnesota player, he was fined $17,389 by the NFL.

As for the second fine from the league, it resulted from a play in the second quarter at the 0:10 minute mark, following a hit on the quarterback in which Turner used his body weight. For this incident, the NFL is fining the Vikings standout $17,389.

Who Are the Other Two Fined Players?

Turner wasn’t only when it came to the Vikings players receiving fines from the Week 10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The other two players were Fabian Moreau and Isaiah Rodgers.

When it comes to Moreau, the league fined him because of a play in the second quarter at the 0:24 minute mark for a play that the NFL deemed as unnecessary roughness. In the incident, Moreau used his helmet, and as a result, the league is fining him $6,972.

As for Rodgers, his fine came from a play in the third quarter at the 8:35 minute mark for what the NFL also deemed as unnecessary roughness. In the incident, Rodgers used a hip-drop tackle, and as a result, the league is fining him $17,389.

Vikings Have More Bad News

While this bad news only affects three players and their financial situations, Minnesota did offer bad news that affects the entire team heading into their game against the Bears.

On November 14, head coach Kevin O’Connell announced that Jonathan Greenard and Ryan Kelly would be the only two players on the purple side who would enter the game against Chicago with an injury designation.

“Jonathan Gernard will be out for the game,” O’Connell told reporters. “We’ll continue to be day-to-day and hope he keeps responding well to treatments, and we’ll keep you posted next week on him. And then Ryan Kelly had a great week of practice. Been kind of a plan we had to get him back rolling, and then we will rule him out for this week.

“But hopefully continue that positive progression right into next week. Plan all along has been to do what’s best for Ryan, and he’s in a great place right now. Really happy with the week he had, and we’ll pick that back up next week in our preparation. Those will be the only two players that will have a designation going into the game.”
