NFL Shares Historic News on Giants QB Jaxson Dart

It was the game that nobody expected to see, but it was a thrill foraanyone who roots for the New York Giants. On Thursday, October 9, under the bright lights of Thursday Night Football, the Giants beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 34-17, and it wasn’t even close. It marked the Eagles’ second consecutive loss.

What an exciting time to be a New York Giants supporter. This franchise was the laughing stock last season, and now, they seem to have a franchise quarterback in Jaxson Dart who’s already performing at high levels.

The New York Giants picked Jaxson Dart with the No. 25 overall pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft, and they traded up for him. The deal was with the Houston Texans, and the Giants traded their No. 34 and No. 99 picks, as well as a 2026 third-round pick, to the Texans for the move. Now, that move is paying off.

Jaxson Dart of the New York Giants Makes History

It was a big night for Dart in more ways than one. Yes, he helped win the game, but Dart also notched a record of sorts.

“Jaxson Dart and Patrick Mahomes are the only QBs since at least 1991 to lead their team to an opening-drive TD in each of their first 3 career starts,” the NFL posted on X during the Eagles vs. Giants game.

It doesn’t stop there. According to NFL research, Dart and rookie Cam Skattebo “ran for scores Thursday night. The last time the Giants had two rookies with one or more rushing TD in the same game was in Week 10, 1980 versus Dallas, with Larry Heater and Leon Perry each rushing for touchdowns in that game.”

Victory for the New York Giants

Following the game, Dart gushed over how the Giants performed. Yeah, I mean, it absolutely is because you have to have a lot of respect for that team,” Dart said. “They just come off winning the Super Bowl. Top team in the league. Quite honestly, nobody really expected us to put up a performance like this.”

He added, “As a locker room, as teammates, we felt confident. We just try to play hard for each other. We’re not trying to make statements. We’re just trying to play for each other and win games. We want to find an identity. I felt like we did a good job of putting that a little bit together tonight.”

Dark also talked about the negative that sometimes surrounds the Giants and says that the new guys don’t feel it. That’s so great to hear.

“For us, some of the new guys that are coming here, we just got here, so we don’t feel like we were involved in the past,” he said. “We’ve got a lot of winners on this team, guys who come out every single day, work their ass off to put on a good showing on Sundays.”

He added, “I feel like we’re just connected. We just had some games, times and moments, where it hasn’t gone our way. We do feel like we’re a really good team, we have really good players. We’re just trying to win games. We’re just trying to stay internal and stay connected each and every day.”

So, the vibe, in general, for the Giants right now is positive and sparkling. That’s something this team needs going forward.
