NXT Heatwave: Everything to Know Ahead of WWE’s Latest Premium Live Event

While NXT will not directly be competing with All Elite Wrestling, WWE once again decided to have their developmental program up against AEW.

The fourth installment of NXT Heatwave takes place from the Lowell Memorial Auditorium. After a stellar “Great American Bash” event, NXT is back at it with six matches on the card for Massachusetts.

NXT Heatwave: Three Titles on the Line

For the first time in forever, the NXT Women’s Championship will not be defended on a Premium Live Event. Instead, double champion, Jacy Jayne, is set to defend her TNA Knockouts Championship. The champion finds herself in a unique position as it’s a triple threat match, meaning she doesn’t have to be pinned to lose the championship.

It’s safe to assume that Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nix won’t be too far behind the leader of Fatal Influence. Masha Slamovich is returning to get her title back, one she believes she never should’ve lost at TNA Slammiversary. Also, Ash by Elegance (FKA Dana Brooke) will be in the match as she won a #1 Contender Battle Royal on TNA iMPACT.

The NXT Tag Team Champions also find themselves with the odds stacked against them. Hank and Tank are defending their titles for the first time on a PLE since they defeated Fraxiom at Stand & Deliver in April. Regardless, they’ll face any two members of the DarkState stable.

Je’Von Evans has a chance to finally win the big one. After defeating Trick Williams on this past week’s episode of NXT on the CW, the 21-year-old can do the unthinkable. Oba Femi got the best of both of those men at Stand & Deliver, but this is Evans’ first singles match with the unstoppable champion.

Femi is enjoying a 229 day reign as NXT Champion. It’s the longest title reign since Bron Breakker held it for 362 days over two years ago. In his ninth defense of the championship, Femi has to deal with the speed and quickness of the challenger. Keep in mind, the NXT Title did change hands at last year’s Heatwave event.

NXT Heatwave: The Rest of the Card

NXT’s women’s division is involved in the remaining three non-title matches. A marquee singles bout between Jordynne Grace and Blake Monroe headlines the action. After Monroe’s actions in the past few weeks, it’s clear that Grace wants revenge.

While those two successfully teamed together at Great American Bash, this will only be Monroe’s third singles match in the company. It’s noteworthy as Grace has far more experience and has challenged for the NXT Women’s Title that many times this year.

Elsewhere, Lola Vice, Jaida Parker, and Kelani Jordan square off in a triple-threat match. The winner will be the #1 Contender to Jacy Jayne’s NXT Women’s Championship. All three have a case to challenge the leader of Fatal Influence as anyone could come out on top in this one.

Finally, WWE’s Chelsea Green came down to NXT to defend her home country of Canada. Ethan Page has already done it all in the promotion, but now he’s in a battle of USA vs. Canada. The two will team up to take on Tavion Heights and LFG Season 1 winner, Tyra Mae Steele.
