Oleksandr Usyk knocked Daniel Dubois out in the fifth round at Wembley on Saturday night, once again becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion.

The Ukrainian takes his perfect record to 24-0 thanks to yet another superb performance, now holding the WBC, WBO, IBF and IBO titles again.

Dubois, who falls to 22-3, started the fight brightly with a good first round and he was out on the attack, but the success did not last long.

The Brit quickly started to tire and the incredible accuracy of the Ukrainian was on show.

Usyk is regularly the smaller man in his heavyweight bouts, but he is not short of power, as was on display when he put an end to Dubois in the fifth round.

Dubois was put down, returned to his feet, but Usyk was in lethal mood and a left hook dropped his opponent again and the fight was over.

It was a vicious performance from the heavyweight king, with boxing expert Steve Bunce revealing to the BBC why he was so motivated to destroy Dubois.

When Usyk beat Tyson Fury in his previous fight, Dubois stepped into the ring to try and set up this bout, but his timing upset the Ukrainian.

‘I’ll give you the reason why he was so vicious and so motivated,’ Bunce explained on BBC Radio 5 Live.

‘In December when Usyk beat Tyson Fury, Daniel Dubois gate-crashed the ring at the end of the fight and at the moment he gate-crashed the ring, Usyk was talking about his father with tears in his eyes and Dubois gate-crashed that and Usyk has held that as a grudge ever since.

‘Everybody in the camp knew. It was all down to that interruption, that’s what gave Usyk that nasty edge tonight.’

The pair first fought in August 2023 in Poland with Dubois lasting longer, eventually stopped in the ninth round.

It was arguably a better performance this time round, though, giving Usyk more to worry about in the very early stages, although it ended badly for the 27-year-old.

‘I have to commend him on the performance, I gave everything I had,’ said Dubois. ‘There was a few things I could have sharpened up on but take no credit away from the man. I’ll be back.

‘I was just fighting, man, I was in the fight. It is what it is. I’ll be back. I want to thank everyone for coming out, I gave my best.’

Usyk added that despite nearing 40 years old, he has plenty left in the tank.

’38 is a young guy, remember! 38 is only start!’ Usyk told the north London crowd.

‘I want to say thank you to Jesus Christ. I want to say thank you to my team and Wembley, thank you so much! It’s for the people.

‘Nothing is next. It’s enough, next, I don’t know. I want to rest. My family, my wife, my children, I want to rest now. Two or three months, I want to just rest.’
