Packers Announce Deflating Injury News Ahead of Eagles Matchup on ‘MNF’

The Green Bay Packers lost tight end Tucker Kraft for the season after he tore his ACL against the Carolina Panthers in Week 9, and circumstances have only grown worse for the offense since then.

Just a couple of hours prior to Green Bay’s “Monday Night Football” showdown against the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported that rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden will also sit out the contest.

“Packers WR Matthew Golden, who is questionable with a shoulder injury, is not expected to play tonight against the Eagles, per source,” Pelissero wrote on X. “The first-round pick was pushing to go but Green Bay will rely on others to pick up the slack with Tucker Kraft out.”

Golden has played in all eight games for Green Bay during his rookie campaign up until now, starting four of those contests.

All told, he has tallied 23 catches on 29 targets for 262 receiving yards. He has also rushed the football eight times for 45 yards. However, Golden has yet to find the end zone in any capacity since joining the NFL.

The rookie pushed hard to get onto the field, but was unable to meet the standard that head coach Matt LaFleur set as a benchmark for Golden to actually play on Monday night.

“It’s just one of those deals that he’s fighting to play,” LaFleur said. “We’ll see how he is feeling today. He’s gotta be able to handle that everything that is thrown at him. No setback, this is totally day-by-day.”

Meanwhile, Kraft produced 32 catches for 489 yards and six scores through eight games played before going down with the ACL injury.

Sheil Kapadia, a writer and podcaster for The Ringer, dubbed Kraft the best tight end in the league during the November 5 edition of “The Bill Simmons Podcast.” However, Kapadia added the caveat that Brock Bowers of the Las Vegas Raiders has missed much of the 2025 campaign due to injury.

Kraft will miss the remainder of the 2025 season, while Luke Musgrave will move into the starting role in his place.

Packers Wide Receivers Room Banged Up Beyond Matthew Golden Injury

Also absent from Green Bay’s group of pass-catchers is Jayden Reed, who remains sideliend due to a broken collarbone he suffered in Week 2 and a subsequent foot surgery.

Dontayvion Wicks came into Monday as “questionable” with a calf injury, as did Savion Williams with a foot issue. Christian Watson, who has played in two games since returning from an ACL tear in January, was also “questionable” on Monday but confirmed that he will suit up against Philadelphia.

Romeo Doubs is healthy and will also play, which is crucial to Green Bay’s chances of pulling out a victory. Doubs is first on the team in targets (52) and receptions (34). He is also second in receiving yards (441) and receiving touchdowns (4) behind only Kraft, per ESPN statistics.

Green Bay was still 1.5-point favorites to beat Philadelphia at home on Monday night as of roughly an hour before kickoff, according to odds from DraftKings Sportsbook.
