Packers Get Unfortunate Prediction After Second Straight Loss

The Green Bay Packers entered the season with Super Bowl aspirations, and that grew more after acquiring Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons.

The Packers began the year with a 5-1-1 record before losing back-to-back games against the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles.

Both games were at home, and both losses came by three points, but the Packers scored 20 points combined in those contests.

As such, concern is growing in Green Bay, and the once-promising playoff hopes have started to cool down a bit.

Ali Bhanpuri of NFL.com dropped his predictions of every game for the NFC teams the rest of the year and updated his playoff predictions.

Unfortunately, he had the Packers on the outside looking in.

“Although I still have the Packers finishing the year 4-4, going .500 down the stretch is no longer sufficient to secure their place in the playoffs. The confounding losses to Cleveland and Carolina ultimately catch up with this uber-talented but underperforming squad,” he wrote.

Packers are Predicted to Win Four More Games This Season

Bhanpuri has the Packers finishing 9-7-1 and in third place in the NFC North.

Initially, he had Green Bay with a 7-3 mark at this point, but losses to the Panthers and the Cleveland Browns were definitely unexpected by all means.

Here is what Bhanpuri projected for the rest of the season.

Before the season, Bhanpuri had the Packers winning the NFC North, but he now has the Detroit Lions winning the division with the Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers grabbing the three NFC Wild Card spots.

Bhanpuri had the Packers finishing 4-4 in the final eight games before the season began, but some game predictions have changed.

Packers Also Dropped in the Latest NFL.com Power Rankings

To make things more worrisome, the Packers dropped in the latest NFL.com power rankings from Eric Edholm.

He had Green Bay dropping two spots to No. 12, and the ugly loss to the Eagles is another cause for concern.

“Nothing was going right offensively against the Eagles, as Jordan Love struggled most of the night, and his receivers let him down time and time again. The offensive line was struggling, too, and that was before Elgton Jenkins suffered an injury just ahead of halftime,” Edholm wrote.

“If the offense can get right, Green Bay has a chance to be a true title contender, but not if that unit plays like it did on Monday,” Edholm added.

The crushing injury to Jenkins also does not help Green Bay’s chances, so the path looks tricky going forward.

Going into Week 11, the Packers are third in the NFC North and are the No. 7 seed in the NFC, although they sit right above the 49ers and Panthers.

Missing the playoffs would be a big disappointment for this team, so there is pressure mounting over the rest of the regular season.
