Packers Issue Grim Update After Pro Bowler Carted Off vs. Eagles

The Green Bay Packers won’t have starting center Elgton Jenkins available for the remainder of Monday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jenkins limped out of Monday’s game with the help of trainers in the second quarter after getting his left ankle rolled up underneath quarterback Jordan Love as Eagles defensive end Nolan Smith Jr. sacked him. He then rode the cart into the locker room.

While the Packers initially ruled Jenkins as questionable to return with an ankle injury, they ruled him out for the remainder of the game several minutes into the third quarter.

Without Jenkins, the Packers have turned to backup Sean Rhyan to replace their two-time Pro Bowler at center against the Eagles. They have another center on their roster in 2024 fifth-round pick Jacob Monk, but they made him inactive for Week 10’s game.

The Packers are trailing the Eagles, 3-0, with 12:16 left in the fourth quarter.

Packers Moved Elgton Jenkins to Center for 2025 Season

Jenkins has started at center in each of the first nine games of the 2025 season for the Packers, embracing a new role after predominantly playing guard in his first six years.

When former center Josh Myers‘ contract expired last offseason, the Packers opted not to sign a veteran center to replace him. Instead, they devised a plan to move Jenkins — a two-time Pro Bowl left guard — to center and signed veteran Aaron Banks to a $77 million contract to take over for Jenkins at left guard for the 2025 campaign.

It was a move that drew skepticism. Even Jenkins admitted that he “for sure” thought about the financial implications of changing positions before reaching training camp.

Through eight games, the Packers also found mixed results. Jenkins has remained solid in his new role, but he has also allowed two sacks and 10 pressures across his 298 pass-blocking snaps. Meanwhile, Banks has missed time with injuries — an established red flag with him before free agency — and has struggled as a run-blocker when healthy.

Now, things could get even more difficult for the Packers if Jenkins has to miss time.
