Packers’ Matt LaFleur Responds to Micah Parsons ‘Disrespect’ Comments

The Green Bay Packers are heading into arguably the biggest game of the 2025 NFL season for the storied franchise, as they’ll take on the division rival Chicago Bears on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

The Packers will face the Bears twice over the next three weeks, with the NFC North division title potentially at stake. Green Bay trails Chicago in the division standings, sitting with a record of 8-3-1 while Caleb Williams and company are on top at 9-3 while riding a five-game win streak.

Along with the division crown likely being on the line over the next two games between these two teams, superstar linebacker Micah Parsons stirred the pot with some controversial comments about the Bears ahead of Sunday’s clash in Green Bay.

Packers’ Micah Parsons Reveals Why He Doesn’t Like The Bears

Parsons didn’t hold back earlier this week when he explained why he doesn’t like the Bears, via Ryan Wood of USA Today.

“Rivarlies are for the people. It’s for the fans,” Micah Parsons said. “For me, it’s just going out there and just dominating. I just don’t like them because I just see like the disrespect… I play for respect. You know how to earn someone’s respect is beating the [expletive] out of them.”

“Respect is something that’s earned, and these people want to come here, and they want to beat us at our house,” Parsons said. “We eventually got to go there. If someone comes [expletive] on your lawn, what would you say? It’s a respect thing, especially losing a couple of games at home, and the way we lost them. We have to come together as a defense to get our respect back.”

Parsons’ comments are likely to spark a response from the Bears ahead of this divisional showdown in Green Bay, as they will provide the team with added motivation, which could impact the game’s outcome.

Packers’ Matt LaFleur Reacts to Micah Parsons’ Comments

The last thing a head coach in the NFL wants his players to do is give an opponent, especially a division rival, more fuel ahead of perhaps the most important game of the season. However, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur doesn’t seem to be upset about Parsons’ comments about the Bears ahead of Week 14’s matchup against Chicago.

LaFleur spoke to the media on Friday and shared his thoughts on Parsons’ comments regarding the Bears’ alleged disrespect.

“I think all you have to do is watch how people defend him,” LaFleur said of Parsons. “I love that he’s always trying to fight for the type of player that he is and he’s capable of being, but I would say watching opposing offenses and how they gameplan against him, when there’s sometimes not only two guys but a third guy’s attention on him. I think he’s definitely earned that respect throughout the league, but that’s something that you’ve got to continue to earn each and every time you go out there.

“I love the mindset he has when he attacks the field.”

During Parsons’ first season with the Packers, the veteran linebacker has recorded 18 solo tackles, 12.5 sacks (3rd in the NFL) and one forced fumble.

There’s no question that he’s made a considerable impact on the defensive side of the football for the Packers and will likely continue to do so heading into this divisional clash with the Bears.
