Packers QB Jordan Love Labeled a ‘Value’ Bet for One League Honor

The Green Bay Packers made a big financial commitment to Jordan Love after his first season as the full-time starting quarterback with the organization.

Well, Packers fans could be excited to hear he was named one of the best value bets for NFL MVP entering the 2025 NFL season.

Corbie Craig dropped some of his best value bets for NFL MVP entering the 2025 season on Monday. Fortunately for Green Bay fans, Packers QB Jordan Love was one of three players to make the list.

Craig wrote, “After two years as a starter, it’s time for Love to prove he’s worth the $220 million contract the Packers handed him. Luckily, he’s got some help. The Packers used premium picks on WRs Matthew Golden and Savion Williams in the 2025 NFL Draft, and added veteran guard Aaron Banks to shore up the offensive line. Love already finished 2024 ranked top 10 in nearly every advanced QB metric, but inconsistency and injuries held him back.”

Some of the advanced metrics do reflect fondly for Love playing better than his 3,389 yards and 25 touchdowns with 11 interceptions would suggest, which could factor into the MVP conversation if Love manages to revert back to his 2023 form where he produced 4,159 passing yards to go with 32 touchdown passes.

Lou Scataglia of Lombardi Ave detailed how data points to quarterbacks making a big leap in year three in a recent article.

Scataglia wrote, “There are some recent QBs and even some from a while ago who saw a huge uptick in production in their third year. This is not an exhaustive list, but I found a wide range of passers who saw the production really take a step forward in the pivotal year three.”

Love technically isn’t a third year player but is entering his third year as the starting quarterback of the Packers. His drop in production can be reasonably explained by dealing with multiple injuries, but does give Love a wider range of outcomes in 2025 with an MVP ceiling but middle of the road floor.

Are Mathew Golden and Savion Williams the Final Pieces of the Puzzle to a Breakout Season for Jordan Love in 2025?

Craig added, “If the young receivers make a leap and Love leads the Packers to double-digit wins, he’ll have a real case — especially if he continues to stretch the field like he did in the second half of last season.”

Speaking of those young receivers, the Packers added both Texas WR Matthew Golden and TCU WR Savion Williams in the 2025 NFL Draft, which could add a new element to this passing attack for this year.

Golden is a talent prospect with great vertical speed paired with route running nuance and top shelf acceleration to create separation out of breaks.

Williams is a bit more raw but could factor into the manufactured touch game who can be an issue for opposing defenses when the TCU product has the ball in his hands in a similar way that Jayden Reed or Deebo Samuel frustrate opposing defenses.

Golden has a real shot to finish the year as the Packers leading receiver in every category. If that becomes a reality, then Love does have realistic MVP upside in 2025.
