Patrick Mahomes Sends a Clear Message as the Chiefs Season Collapses

The 2025 season has unraveled quickly for the Kansas City Chiefs, but franchise quarterback Patrick Mahomes is making it clear that his leadership hasn’t gone anywhere. As Kansas City prepares for a difficult finish following postseason elimination and a string of injuries, Mahomes — currently rehabbing after knee surgery — continues to show up for his teammates and fans.

Patrick Mahomes Shows Support as Chiefs Season Slips Away

Ahead of the Chiefs’ Week 16 matchup against the Tennessee Titans, the team’s official X account shared a photo of Chiefs fans who traveled to Nashville holding a sign that read, “Win It for 15.” Mahomes reshared the post to his own account, prompting an outpouring of support from fans who continue to rally behind their injured quarterback.

“Love how the kingdom still rides hard for 15, and the rest of the team even though the outcome of this season isn’t what we wanted,” one fan wrote. “Win or lose, or even a tie, I’m a Chiefs fan till the day I die.”

Others chimed in with messages praising Mahomes’ legacy, sharing photos of his three Super Bowl rings and calling him the GOAT, while many focused on his recovery.

“Praying for your recovery, QB1,” another fan wrote. “Take the time you need to get your knee rehabbed. Missing you already 15.”

Mahomes Supports Chiefs QBs After 1 Suffers an All Too Familiar Injury

The Chiefs were officially eliminated from playoff contention after a Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, a game that also marked the end of Mahomes’ season after he suffered a torn ACL. He later underwent surgery with hopes of returning for the start of the 2026 season.

In his absence, veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew got the start but suffered his own torn ACL in the second quarter, forcing Kansas City to turn to Chris Oladokun. Oladokun, a former seventh-round pick who has bounced between the practice squad and active roster, finished 11-of-16 for 111 yards in his first regular-season action.

After the game, Oladokun revealed that Mahomes reached out personally.

“Chris Oladokun said he checked his phone after the game, and the first text he saw was from Patrick Mahomes,” The Kansas City Star’s Sam McDowell noted. Oladokun later added, “That’s the type of guy he is.”

Patrick Mahomes Continues Leading Chiefs Off the Field

Even while rehabbing away from the field, Mahomes continues to make his presence felt inside the building. The holidays arrived early for the Chiefs’ offensive linemen thanks to their quarterback, who kept up a tradition he started last year.

The Chiefs’ Instagram account shared photos and videos on Dec. 19 showing players opening gifts from Mahomes, captioned, “Christmas came early for the O-line! Shoutout to QB1 for the gifts.”

Mahomes went big. His offensive line received Hublot watches — some of which retail for more than $40,000 — along with Full Swing golf practice kits valued at around $4,000. Smaller gifts included Beats Studio Pro headphones, Oakley Meta AI sunglasses, customized glasses cases with jersey numbers, Rimowa aluminum suitcases, and Aventon e-bikes.

Videos shared by the team showed linemen riding the e-bikes down hallways and testing out their new gear, offering a rare lighthearted moment during a tough stretch.

With two games remaining against the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders, the Chiefs are playing out the string of a lost season. Still, Mahomes’ actions continue to reinforce his role as the heartbeat of the franchise — injured or not.
