Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is facing an unprecedented challenge over the final month of the season, but the dire situation hasn’t affected his wife’s business ventures.
The Chiefs are in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time in Mahomes’ career, trailing the wild card by two full games after their loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving. While Patrick Mahomes was sober in his assessment of the challenge facing the team, Brittany Mahomes took the opportunity to announce a new business venture — one that highlights her love for the team.
Brittany Mahomes Launches New Chiefs Merch
On Cyber Monday, the extension of Black Friday that brings a host of online sales, Brittany Mahomes took to social media to announce a new aspect of her Amazon partnership that featured some Chiefs clothing.
Mahomes announced a line of shirts and hoodies that showed her love of her husband’s team.
“Sorry (not sorry) for what I said during the game👀🤣,” Mahomes wrote on Instagram. “So excited to launch my second #Chiefs collection for @amazon #amazonpartner You can shop the full merch line and all of my Game Day essentials on my Amazon Storefront linked in my bio!”
Brittany Mahomes has launched a number of business ventures, including a custom WHOOP band collection that she and Patrick jointly announced on Instagram in November.
Patrick Mahomes Assesses Grim Playoff Situation
After a win over the Indianapolis Colts appeared to have the Chiefs back on track, Thursday’s loss to the Cowboys sent them back into a dire situation. Mahomes said after the loss that the Chiefs would need to run the table from here on out, winning all five remaining games to finish 11-6 — then hope they get some help along the way.
“You’ve got to win every game now, and hope that’s enough,” Mahomes said. “We’re going to play a lot of good football teams coming up. If we’re going to make the playoffs, we’re going to have to win them all. That’s got to be the mindset when we step into the building when we get back.”
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is a bit more bullish, saying he believes the Chiefs are still in the hunt.
“We’re still in the mix right here,” Reid said, “which is a great thing.”
Reid told reporters on Monday that he believes the Chiefs were just a play or two away from beating the Cowboys and moving to 7-5.
“You saw it in this last game. You pick up a play here or there, that’s the difference in the game,” Reid said. “And that’s where we’re at right now. We’ve got to flip that around.”
The Athletic noted that the Chiefs face a statistical climb, with their loss dropping them to a 36% chance of making the playoffs. The Chiefs are behind the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Los Angeles Chargers — all teams they’ve lost to this year.
If the Chiefs miss the playoffs, it could mean more family time for Patrick Mahomes — and less time in the spotlight for Brittany Mahomes. She garnered plenty of attention through the team’s run of three consecutive Super Bowl appearances.
