Patrick Mahomes’ Wife Brittany Shares Bad News Before Chiefs Game

Patrick Mahomes and wife Brittany have supported many charitable causes over the years, but this time the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his family are helping with something a lot closer to home.

Patrick Mahomes was just honored this week for his efforts to raise money for flood victims in his native Texas, and Brittany launched a campaign of her own to help a friend’s neighbor who had been struck by tragedy.

Brittany Mahomes Makes Appeal for Family

Brittany Mahomes took to social media on Thursday to share an announcement about a family who were hit with an unexpected setback.

“Hi guys, a friend of ours neighbor just lost their home to a fire!” Mahomes shared on her Instagram story. “If you feel inclined to help please do 🙏🏼 A little goes a long way in times like these so anything helps!🤍 thank yall🤍”

Brittany shared a link to a GoFundMe campaign for the family that shared more details. It noted that the fire started when the family’s children put away a s’mores maker that sparked a fire inside the home, one that quickly grew out of control.

Though everyone was able to make it out safely, the family lost everything.

“Insurance will eventually help with the rebuild, but it doesn’t erase the immense financial burden or address the immediate needs they’re facing — especially with the holidays approaching,” the GoFundMe page read. “They are now navigating temporary housing, replacing essentials, managing day-to-day needs for the kids, and trying to piece together the parts of life that can’t be easily replaced.”

Patrick Mahomes Honors for His Charitable Efforts

The appeal from Brittany Mahomes came just a few days after Patrick attracted attention for his own charitable efforts. The Chiefs quarterback quietly helped the founders of the Heaven’s 27 Foundation, which was established after flash flooding in Texas in early July left more than 130 people dead, including 27 girls and camp counselors at Camp Mystic.

As Pete Grathoff of the Kansas City Star reported, Mahomes partnered with the Josh Abbott Band, which played a benefit concert to raise money for the foundation. Abbott took to social media this weekend to reveal that Mahomes stepped up to raise six figures.

“This dude helped us raise $130,000 at our benefit concert for heavens27foundation,” Abbott wrote.

Patrick and Brittany Mahomes have also been active with their own charity, the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation. The charity works with children to promote health and wellness, with a focus on underserved communities.

The couple held a gala event in October that raised a significant sum for the programs that the Mahomes foundation supports.

“The night featured live music, entertainment, fundraising — and yes, a few football tosses with the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback himself,” noted a report from People magazine. “By the end of the event, $1,508,000 was raised. It will benefit over 20 charities.”

The Chiefs are just coming out of their bye week, with Mahomes and the team in need of some help to make their way back into the playoff picture. The team fell to 5-4 after a loss to the Buffalo Bills and left the bye week as the No. 8 team in the AFC.
