Patriots Player in Trouble for Actions Against Bills

The Buffalo Bills and quarterback Josh Allen had a riveting win against the New England Patriots on Sunday, December 14, with a 35-31 final score, and that gave the Bills a better than 99% chance of making the postseason. It’s an exciting time for the Bills, but the Patriots are already in the playoffs, according to NFL research, so they really have nothing to be upset about.

But, one New England Patriots player isn’t happy following the game, because he’s in trouble with the NFL for actions taken against the Buffalo Bills. So, as the Patriots head into their game on Sunday, December 20, against the Baltimore Ravens, he’ll have this on his mind.

After the win over New England, Allen had kind words to say about his team and how they fought to comeback from a deficit, noting, “I feel like we still got some things to work on. Obviously, we want to start faster in these games, but we’re playing good football right now. I think there’s still some more stuff that we can unlock.”

NFL Makes Punishment Decision on New England Patriots Player After Buffalo Bills Game

Each Saturday during the NFL season, the league gives punishments to players for actions taken during the previous week’s games. The NFL states on their official website that these actions are “to protect players from unnecessary risk and preserve competitive balance and game integrity.” Also, ahead of the season’s start, the NFL and NFL Players Association agree on the set of game-related rules violations that result in these accountability measures.

On Saturday, December 20, the NFL announced a punishment for New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson. He’s being fined $12,172 for “unnecessary roughness” for “striking/kicking/tripping/kneeing” at the 3:41 mark in the third quarter of their game against the Bills on December 14.

According to the NFL, all of the funds raised from those fines will go to the Professional Athletes Foundation to “support legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, including youth football and the communities that support the game.”

If he wants to appeal the decision, he’s able. “Players are notified of violations and may appeal any ruling,” the NFL says in their official rules book. “Cases are heard by appeals officers and former NFL players, Derrick Brooks, Ramon Foster or Jordy Nelson, who are jointly appointed and paid by the NFL/NFLPA.”

Buffalo Bills Close to Clinching a Playoff Spot

The Buffalo Bills are moments away from clinching their playoff spot. According to research from the NFL, there are four ways they can do it in Week 16.

One way is if Buffalo takes down the Browns on Sunday, December 21, and the Colts lose or tie to 49ers on Monday, December 22. Another is if Allen and the crew win over the Browns on Sunday and the Texans lose or ties to the Raiders that same day.

The Bills would make the playoffs if they tie Browns and the Colts lose to 49ers or if the Bills tie the Browns and the Texans lose to the Raiders. So, it’s all about mathematics at this point, and any way it’s sliced, the Bills have a high chance of making the postseason soon.
