The New England Patriots have been one of the hottest teams in the NFL during the 2025 campaign, with head coach Mike Vrabel helping to change the culture while second-year quarterback Drake Maye quickly becomes a legitimate superstar under center for the storied franchise.
Even though the Patriots saw their impressive 10-game win streak come to an end against Josh Allen and the division-rival Buffalo Bills on Sunday, New England remains a heavyweight in the AFC and is still on track to win the AFC East division title, securing their spot in the NFL playoffs.

With three regular-season games left on the schedule, the Patriots are a team to watch moving forward, as this team could be a legitimate Super Bowl title contender and perhaps the team to beat in the AFC once the postseason gets underway.
Along with all the team’s success up to this point in the season, Maye has become quite popular, as he is currently leading the way in Pro Bowl voting ahead of Seattle Seahawks star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and nearly 20,000 votes ahead of Allen and Los Angeles Rams star quarterback Matthew Stafford, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
At this point, it appears that Maye will be the lead vote-getter when all is said and done, which is impressive, to say the least.
Will Drake Maye Win NFL MVP?

With 14 games in the books during his second season with the Patriots, Maye has thrown for 3,567 yards (5th in the NFL), 23 touchdowns (tied for 5th) and seven interceptions. He has also rushed for 362 yards and four touchdowns on 85 carries.
Maye’s sophomore season in New England has been so impressive that he’s in the running to win NFL MVP along with Stafford and Allen.
Along with being in the mix with two of the best veteran quarterbacks in the league for the regular-season award, Maye is winning over fans with plays like this, where he runs downfield to block for running back TreVeyon Henderson.
It’ll be interesting to see how the race for NFL MVP pans out, as Stafford has a great case with what he’s been able to do with the Rams this season. Allen is also making things intriguing after leading the Bills to a come-from-behind win against the Patriots.
However, Maye’s case is undeniable and perhaps more impressive than the other two, considering the circumstances in New England in the post-Tom Brady era, with a team that no one saw coming this season.
In the final stretch of the regular season, the Patriots will attempt to hold off the Bills while facing the Baltimore Ravens (Week 16), New York Jets (Week 17) and Miami Dolphins (Week 18).
Although the Ravens will likely pose a challenge with Lamar Jackson and company competing for the AFC North division crown, Maye will potentially have some easy games to showcase his skills against the division rival Jets and Dolphins.
