Philadelphia 76ers Make Joel Embiid Announcement Before Timberwolves Game

On Friday evening, the Philadelphia 76ers will host the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Wells Fargo Center.

The 76ers are coming off a 153-131 victory over the Washington Wizards.

Joel Embiid did not play in the game.

For Friday’s game, the 76ers have announced that Embiid will be listed as doubtful on the injury report.

@RBPhillyTake wrote: “Joel Embiid is listed as DOUBTFUL against the Timberwolves tomorrow night…

Doesn’t sound good for the chance of him playing.”

Embiid is currently averaging 26.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 blocks per contest while shooting 49.5% from the field and 34.0% from three-point range in 36 games.

He is in his 12th year (and tenth playing) for the 76ers.

In that span, Embiid has made the All-Star Game seven times.

Sean Barnard of DraftKings Network added: “Joel Embiid is listed as doubtful for tomorrow’s matchup with the Timberwolves It is worth noting it is the first half of a back-to-back Embiid reportedly met with a doctor about the illness after missing the team’s morning session yesterday”

The 76ers come into play with a 42-34 record in 76 games, which has them as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.

They have won seven out of their last ten games (and are 21-17 at home).

Following the Timberwolves, the 76ers will play their next game on Saturday when they remain in Philadelphia to host the Detroit Pistons.

The 76ers have one of the most talented rosters in the NBA led by Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey.

That said, the team is coming off a year where they missed the NBA playoffs.

A healthy 76ers group has the potential to make a deep run in the 2026 postseason.

Timberwolves Before 76ers Meeting

The Timberwolves will play the Pistons (in Detroit) on Thursday.

They are currently the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a 46-29 record in 75 games.

On the road, the Timberwolves have gone 21-15 in 36 games away from the Target Center.

Following the Pistons and 76ers, they will return home to host the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.
