Shane Victorino, a former MLB outfielder affectionately known as “The Flyin’ Hawaiian”, is one of the most beloved baseball players of the 2000s, especially for his time on the Philadelphia Phillies.
His iconic status was further solidified on Monday June 30, 2025 when fans elected Victorino to social media’s “Hall of Pretty Good”.
Victorino received 96% of 40,945 votes, all cast by fans on Instagram within 24 hours, to earn the honor. That is the highest percentage of votes for any player in the Hall of Pretty Good’s history thus far. It also makes Victorino a member of the HOPG’s “Inner Circle” for receiving over 90% of the vote.
Phillies fans, and fans across the MLB, are thrilled to give Victorino the spotlight and celebrate him.
What is the Hall of Pretty Good?
Founded by Bryce Whitlow, the Hall of Pretty Good is a social media network that aims to celebrate baseball. But @mlbhallofgood (@hallofgoodpod on X) isn’t the average baseball account that typically devotes most of its resources to celebrating the most popular, current baseball players, like Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge.
What Whitlow’s account does instead is provide baseball fans a space to celebrate the unsung heroes of their team’s history. Whitlow’s goal is to bring light to and celebrate the areas of the game that don’t get nearly enough love and attention normally.
In addition to uplifting, nostalgic social media posts, Whitlow runs an actual Hall of Pretty Good. Fans can vote for or against adding players to the database.
To be a candidate for the Hall of Pretty Good, players must be retired, have less than a 35.0 bWAR, never have received a Cy Young or MVP award, and not be in the actual MLB Hall of Fame.
Votes take place every Sunday and Thursday at 3pm EST and are open for 24 hours. Any player who receives 65% of the vote joins the Hall of Pretty Good.
Victorino is the 13th member of the social media Hall. Other players that fans have selected for the Hall include Hideki Matsui, Jason Kipnis, Eric Hosmer and Josh Reddick.
Players aren’t always elected; reliever Kelvin Herrera’s Hall of Pretty Good campaign was the most recent to fall short.
Whitlow’s account has 128k followers as of the end of June 2025 and is growing fast. Many current and former MLB players follow the account. Some of the inductees even acknowledge their induction with a short speech in the comments of the announcement post.
The Hall of Pretty Good is quickly becoming one of the most beloved baseball accounts on all of social media.
Shane Victorino’s Phillies Career
If anyone is a lock for a Hall of Fame celebrating “pretty good” players, it’s Victorino.
Finishing at just under the 35.0 bWAR maximum at 31.4, Victorino had plenty of moments during his 12-year playing career to earn the adoration of baseball fans.
But Phillies fans love him most of all. With the Phillies, Victorino made two All-Star games, led the MLB in triples twice, won three Gold Glove awards, and helped the Phillies capture the 2008 World Series championship.
Phillies fans, you’re undoubtedly thrilled to see baseball fans across America celebrate Victorino. But what Phillies player would you like to see voted into the Hall of Pretty Good next?
