Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez takes on Terence “Bud” Crawford in the biggest fight of the year on Saturday, September 13.

Alvarez, 35, and Crawford, 37, are fighting for the undisputed super middleweight championship in Las Vegas. Alvarez, who has 11 world title belts, looks to defend his reign on Saturday night. Crawford, who moved up two weight classes to fight against Alvarez, looks to become the first male boxer to earn the undisputed title in three weight classes.

“I have more to lose than him,” Crawford told ESPN. “There are so many people who can’t wait to say that I’m not as good as people thought I was. But Canelo has something to lose, too, because it would tarnish his career if a fighter came up two weight classes and beat him.”

Helping cheer Alvarez on at Allegiant Stadium is his wife, Fernanda Gomez, with whom he shares two daughters, Maria Fernanda, born in 2017, and Eva Victoria, born in August. He also has a son, Saul Adiel, born in 2019, with Nadia Sepulveda.

He shares his eldest daughter, Emily, with his ex-girlfriend and former high school sweetheart, Karen Beltran. In 2018, Alvarez got a tattoo of Emily’s face on his left forearm.

Emily, born on Oct. 12, 2007, went all out for her quinceañera in 2022. Alvarez commemorated the occasion on Instagram and wrote, “Best thing to happen to me 15 years ago. I love you my daughter, be very happy always ❤️.”

Alvarez’s kids come to “every single fight,” he told The Sun in May. “They get a little bit nervous, but they like it. They scream and they support me.”

When asked if they understand the hype surrounding their father, “I think they realise a little bit, but not the magnitude of what I do or what I am in boxing. Maybe my older daughter, obviously, she’s 17, so she already realised how big I am.”

In addition to traveling the world for he dad’s fights, Emily has leaned into popularity as a model and influencer over the past year. She has 1 million followers on Instagram.

Emily first went public with her relationship with Avilez in June 2024. Many fans joked that Avilez is brave for dating the famous boxer’s daughter; however, Alvarez appears to approve of their romance.

The 11-time world title holder happily posed with Avilez following his win against William Scull in Riyadh in May. He also joined Emily in Alvarez’s locker room at Allegiant Stadium before the fight.

Canelo Alvarez Said He’s Going To Start Thinking About Retirement In 2 Years

GettyCanelo Alvarez (L) faces off against Terence Crawford at T-Mobile Arena on September 12, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Speaking to CNN before facing Crawford, Alvarez revealed he’s already thought about when he’ll officially hang up his boxing gloves, a decision he’ll give more serious thought to in two years.

As for now, he’s locked in and expects a “good fight” against Crawford. “I think, at the beginning of the fight, he’s going to be like a student. And then I think I’m going to put everything there together,” he said. “I’m going to take every advantage I have and it’s not just that way. Because I’m a great fighter too.

“I’m just going to do my job. No matter if it’s knockout or decision, I’m gonna get there to win the fight, no matter what way. Because that’s why you have 12 rounds, to show them who’s the best.”
