Popular Podcaster, Former NFL Player Picks Giants To Upset Eagles In Philadelphia

Taylor Lewan is a believer in Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants.

The “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcaster and longtime Tennessee Titans offensive lineman picked New York to cap a sweep of the rival Philadelphia Eagles and win at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday.

Lewan and podcast cohost Will Compton did their weekly spot on ESPN’s “Get Up.” Lewan was asked to produce a bold prediction, which was that the Giants would win in the City of Brotherly Love for the first time since 2013 — and cap a sweep of the Eagles for the first time since 2007.

The Giants, of course, defeated the Eagles 34-17 at MetLife Stadium in a stunning upset behind Dart’s 195 passing yards and one touchdown pass plus his 58 rushing yards and score on the ground as well. Cam Skattebo also had three rushing scores, which helped New York improve to 2-4 at the time.

Taylor Lewan: Cam Skattebo and Jaxson Dart Will Lead Giants To Victory Again

The Giants have just one playoff win since their win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI and have watched the Eagles become the model NFL franchise — with a pair of Super Bowl titles and three championship-game appearances in the past seven years.

Yet, the insertion of Skattebo and Dart have made the Giants dangerous and put them in a position to be more competitive. Aside from their win over the Eagles, the Giants all but defeated the Denver Broncos in their gut-punch 33-32 loss at Empower Field at Mile High, and Lewan trusts New York to polish off the Eagles on Sunday.

“The Creatine Caucasians are going to do it again,” Lewan boldly declared. “They’re making plays, 75 percent of that game against the Denver Broncos was absolutely beautiful. They’re going to do it for all 60 minutes this weekend.”

Bussin’ With The Boys: Eagles Offense Is In Flux

The Giants may have a new attitude with Dart and Skattebo playing the bash brothers, but Lewan’s pick was also a function of some drama arising amid the Eagles.

Wide receiver A.J. Brown did not practice Wednesday while dealing with a hamstring injury. Plus, even though he went off for 121 yards and two touchdowns against the Minnesota Vikings, he is making news with dramatic and cryptic social-media posts questioning offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo’s plays.

“If I’m an offensive tackle, [Brown’s social-media posts] frustrate me,” Lewan said. “But as a true offensive lineman, I’m going back in the shadows because I know Saquon Barkley rushed for about 3.1 yards per carry vs the Vikings, and I know I have a whole lot more work to do and it’s difficult to point fingers at A.J. Brown.”

Plus, the Eagles only won by six due to their shoddy run game that produced just 45 yards.

The Giants pass rush is, of course, a problem for most opposing offenses, and the Eagles’ struggling O-line could have trouble against Kayvon Thibodeaux, Abdul Carter, Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns, who leads the NFL with nine sacks, even while trying to run the ball.

“If you can’t have [the offensive line] get Saquon Barkley to the line of scrimmage then you’re not going to be successful,” Lewan said.
