The official roster for the 2026 Pro Bowl games was just released, and the only Washington Commander to make the cut this season is punter Tress Way. This is quite different from a year ago, when quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Terry McLaurin headlined the Commanders’ selections, along with 11 other Washington players being named as alternates. Obviously, injuries have derailed the Commanders’ 2025 season, leading to the team’s lone selection in the 2026 Pro Bowl. However, there is a lot of Pro Bowl-level talent on the current roster who could find themselves in Inglewood, California, for the 2027 Pro Bowl a year from now.
Player Who Could Develop into Commanders’ Pro Bowlers for 2027
- Sam Cosmi (G)
Like many of the other Washington players this season, Cosmi has been dealing with injuries. Cosmi missed the first six games of the season recovering from a torn ACL and was just placed on injured reserve following a concussion he sustained against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, despite the injury-plagued year, Cosmi has been one of the best guards in the league when healthy. Pro Football Focus has him graded as the 10th-best guard so far in 2025 with a 76.3 offensive ranking. 2026 will have an emphasis on protecting Jayden Daniels, and with a full offseason away from the ACL injury, 2026 could set up Cosmi in the perfect position to secure his first Pro Bowl nod.

2. Tyler Biadasz (C)
Biadasz has been one of the main staples on the offensive line for the Commanders all season. He is currently the eleventh-highest-ranked Center with a 71.2 offensive grade, has only allowed three sacks, and has only committed three penalties according to Pro Football Focus. Biadasz was a Pro Bowler for the Dallas Cowboys in 2022 and will look to regain that form for the Commanders in 2026.

3. Jacory Croskey-Merritt (RB)NFL
Better known as Bill, Croskey-Merritt received plenty of hype due to his performance in the offseason. So much so that the team was willing to trade former starting running back Brian Robinson Jr. to the San Francisco 49ers. Bill has had an up-and-down season, but has flashed elite talent. Merritt has averaged 4.4 yards per carry on the year and has rushed for 671 yards and six touchdowns on 151 carries. Running backs Chris Rodriguez Jr., Jeremy McNichols, and Austin Ekeler are all free agents at the end of this season, which could lead to Bill being the full-time guy for 2026. Him combined with a fully healthy Jayden Daniels rushing attack could turn into quite a run-pass-option nightmare for defenses in the future.

4. Jaylin Lane (WR/PR/KR)
Lane made a name for himself in his rookie year as the Commanders’ premier special teams returner. In the punt game, Lane logged 314 yards and two touchdowns, while adding an additional 56 yards on three kickoff returns. Unfortunately, his season came to an early end due to an injured reserve designation following an ankle issue. But in 2026, he has an opportunity to establish himself as one of the premier return specialists in the league.

5. Jer’Zhan Newton (DT)
Newton has all the tangible aspects to be a very disruptive pass rusher in the NFL. The 2024 second-round pick has shown flashes in his first two years as a Commander, but has been buried in the depth chart behind a strong defensive tackle room. With Eddie Goldman, Sheldon Day, and Jalyn Holmes, all hitting free agency this offseason, there will be room to grow for Newton. Dann Quinn was asked about Newton’s progression as the head into the end of the season and said, “I thought he has developed certainly from where camp is to where he is today, and I think, you know, we will see that over these next four as well. I feel his quickness back at his speed back.”

The Future Is Still Bright For Washington
Despite a 4-11 season, the key pieces are still in play for the Commanders moving forward. They have their quarterback and coach of the future, and the franchise is trending in the right direction under owner Josh Harris. Next season is all about coming back healthy and continuing to develop their players as they will look to compete for an NFC East division title and beyond.
