Rams Offensive Star Named As Teams MVP

The Los Angeles Rams have a well-rounded team on the offensive and defensive side of the ball (special teams is still questionable). Some players are standing out for the team and are making their name known this season.

But it is one of the more established players on the Rams offense who has defenses scared and forcing defensive coordinators to game-plan around. One NFL writer believes this offensive player is the Rams’ position player MVP after 10 weeks this season.

Puka Nacua Named Team’s Non-QB MVP

Puka Nacua entered his third season in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams and his first season as the primary receiving threat for quarterback Matthew Stafford, after the Rams released Cooper Kupp. And in the season, he has shown that he could be not only one of the better wide receivers in the league, but the best.

This season, under offensive player-caller Sean McVay, Nacua has recorded 775 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns while dealing with multiple injuries.

ESPN released its list of every team’s non-QB MVP option for the 2025 season, with 2023 second-team All-Pro wide receiver Nacua being named as.

“This season, Nacua had the most catches by a player in his team’s first five games in league history (52). He has since sat out time because of an ankle sprain and a rib injury, but he’s still Sean McVay’s go-to in got-to-have-it situations,” Sarah Barshop wrote for ESPN.

“On Sunday [against the San Francisco 49ers], that [situation] was a fourth-and-3 in the third quarter when Nacua caught a pass from Stafford and then stretched for the first down. Nacua is third in receiving yards this season (775) despite sitting out almost two full games.”

Nacua is the only player to have 500 receiving yards in the first four games of a season, achieving this feat in his rookie season and to start this season.

The First MVP Option

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

It’s not often a player performs better in the latter stages of his career than in the beginning, especially a quarterback. But Matthew Stafford is doing just that.

The 37-year-old is playing like an MVP candidate despite concerns about his back before the start of the 2025 NFL season.

As mentioned above, Puka Nacua was out for a couple of games this season and has exited other games early, leaving Stafford without his biggest receiving threat. But that doesn’t matter for a guy like him.

With Puka out, Stafford targeted $44 million signing, Davante Adams to be his go-to guy while the former BYU Cougar heals up. Adams is the second-leading receiver on the team with 568 yards.

The Rams have 9 different receivers with over 100 receiving yards, showing that Stafford can work with the hand he is dealt.

The QB is near the end of his career and winning his first MVP would be a good way for him to call it quits.
