Rams Proposed Trade Package Will Make ‘Life Miserable for QBs’

When it comes to going all-in, no NFL franchise embodies the philosophy quite like the Los Angeles Rams. Under general manager Les Snead, the Rams have routinely proven that draft picks are merely bargaining chips to land proven superstars. With rumors swirling about Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher TJ Watt growing frustrated over his contract demands, the Rams are once again in a prime position to pounce.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, multiple teams have inquired about Watt, who remains arguably the most disruptive edge defender in the NFL. While Pittsburgh has shown reluctance to part ways with their four-time First Team All-Pro, the writing may already be on the wall. Watt reportedly wants to become the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league, commanding a massive deal worth north of $41 million annually.

That said, Bleacher Report has come up with a proposed trade package the Rams can send for Watt, and it could very well be the next blockbuster trade.

Rams Could Eye a Trade for TJ Watt

The trade package, which includes a 2026 first-round pick and edge rusher Byron Young, may look steep on paper, but given the Rams’ own two first-round picks in 2026, they have more flexibility than most teams. Here’s what BR had to say on a potential Rams trade for Watt:

“Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead famously wore a “F*** them picks” to the team’s Super Bowl LVI victory parade. He, along with the team, can return the approach that netted them their latest championship.

A deal to obtain Watt works on two levels.

First, Watt immediately provides the team with a defensive identity. The Rams will be pinning their ears back and making life miserable for opposing quarterbacks. With a player of Watt’s caliber playing opposite the reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, Jared Verse, as well as Braden Fiske and Kobie Turner working along the interior, plenty of opportunities will be created for one-on-one matches.

Second, the Rams once again push their chips in to make sure their Super Bowl window is now. The team wants to maximize quarterback Matthew Stafford’s final years. Watt’s acquisition should be seen as the type of move to do so.”

This would be a classic Les Snead play. Critics will inevitably point to the risks, like Watt’s age (30) and cap restrictions, but the Rams have long embraced getting creative to keep their stars happy.

Doubling Down on the Win-Now Mentality

GettyTJ Watt could be the key to winning a Super Bowl for the Los Angeles Rams.

Even after retooling last offseason, the Rams can’t do anything about Stafford getting older. It’ll be amazing to give the team a boost that can propel them from NFC contenders to Super Bowl contenders in an instant.

This is more than just a win-now move. The Rams have never been shy about trading away tomorrow to seize the moment today. As other teams may hesitate to cough up the necessary draft capital and salary cap for Watt’s demands, Los Angeles can snag the former Defensive Player of the Year before it’s too late.

If the Steelers decide to pull the trigger, expect the Rams to be among the first in line, ready to prove that no price is too high when a championship is within reach.
