Rams’ Sean McVay Responds to Alaric Jackson Lawsuit News

The Los Angeles Rams are one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now. With a 7-2 record, the Rams are in a neck-and-neck battle with the Seattle Seahawks for the top spot in the NFC West division. With that in mind, a lot will be determined when these two teams square off against each other in Week 11.

Ahead of this contest, though, the Rams have been dealt some concerning news regarding starting left tackle Alaric Jackson. As a result, head coach Sean McVay was forced to address Jackson’s status on Friday afternoon, as his potential absence could create quite a few issues for Los Angeles against Seattle.

Sean McVay Addresses Alaric Jackson’s Lawsuit

Over the past two seasons, Jackson has emerged as the Rams’ starting left tackle, helping him become a key piece of the team’s offensive line. In February, Jackson’s strong play earned him a three-year, $57 million contract extension, as Los Angeles felt comfortable committing to him as a key piece of its offense for years to come.

While Jackson has starred on the field, there are some off-field concerns surrounding him that the team has had to take into account. In 2024, Jackson was suspended for two games after he violated the league’s personal conduct policy, and now, he’s found himself the subject of a lawsuit stemming from this incident.

On Thursday, a woman filed a lawsuit against Jackson alleging that he recorded her without her consent during sex, and then refused to delete the video before taunting her with it. With the lawsuit being levied against Jackson, his status has once again become a hot-button question, and McVay revealed that while the team is monitoring the situation, the plan is still for him to suit up in Week 11 and beyond.

“Yeah, I was made aware of that,” McVay said when asked about Jackson’s lawsuit. “As with any of those things, especially as a legal manner, keep those things in-house. That’s kind of been consistent since I’ve been here, how we kind of deal with those things out of respect for the process. This isn’t something that we weren’t aware of.”

McVay noted that the team was aware of this situation, and while they will keep an eye on the situation, there’s not much they can say right now. Jackson has already been suspended for this incident, but depending on how this lawsuit plays out, it’s fair to wonder whether or not the league could loop back around and punish him again for his actions.

Until more news comes to light, though, Jackson is going to remain Los Angeles’ starting left tackle. His presence will be a welcome sight against a ferocious Seahawks defense, as his potential absence would have been a big blow for Matthew Stafford and the rest of the Rams’ offense. Kickoff for this wildly important divisional matchup is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET.
