Rams WR Davante Adams Gets Strong Comments Amid Historic News

Davante Adams is on a tear, and the Los Angeles Rams certainly needed it early on against the Carolina Panthers.

With nearly 13 minutes to go in the second quarter, and the Rams trailing by 7 points, Matthew Stafford found Adams in the back of the end zone to set up the game-tying field goal by kicker Harrison Mevis.

The moment was historic for Adams and drew attention from the Rams and a teammate.

Davante Adams Draws Strong Comments From Rams Amid 2-TD Half

Adams entered Sunday’s tilt with 48 receptions for 638 yards and a league-leading 12 touchdowns for the Rams. He added two more scores, first tying and then surpassing former Los Angeles Chargers legend and NFL Hall of Famer Antonio Gates.

The Rams commemorated both.

So did injured Rams safety Quentin Lake, who first noted on X on November 30 that “Stafford + Rams = Touchdown!” and then doubled down in another post, saying, “ANOTHA ONE!!”

“Touchdown, Davante Adams. Drink. And then hydrate,” The Athletic’s Nate Atkins posted on X on November 30. “Matthew Stafford had all day and then some to wait until his go-to red-zone target opened in the back of the end zone. A big bounce-back drive after the two picks.

“They’re moving at will today.”

The Rams had to overcome a pair of Stafford interceptions, which snapped his touchdown streak and established a more ominous one.

That was until Adams, who signed a two-year, $44 million contract with the Rams in free agency this past offseason, scored. Adams can become the first player in NFL history to lead the NFL in TD grabs with three different franchises.

Adams did it with the Green Bay Packers in 2020 and the Las Vegas Raiders two years later.

The Rams posted that Adams was a “Touchdown magnet,” and the score resulted in a free Jumbo Jack from Jack In The Box, with the purchase of a drink and promo code “GORAMS25.”

Adams entered halftime against the Panthers needing 4 more TD catches to tie Arizona Cardinals icon Larry Fitzgerald and 5 scores to pass him for sixth place on the all-time list. He could get close in the second half at his current pace.

Sean McVay Raves About Davante Adams

LA’s PR team also offered a Pro Bowl voting opportunity with a post on X, which noted that the second score marked “11 Touchdowns in the last 6 games for Davante Adams. [clapping emoji].”

Adams continues to prove why Rams head coach Sean McVay frequently raves about him.

“I can just tell you how grateful I am to be working with him. And how smart, how special of a human being he is, first and foremost. And the, obviously, he’s feeling good. We’ve seen the rapport between he and Matthew really start to come to life,” McVay told media members on November 9.

“I think he’s playing as really his best ball. He’s just getting better and better. He’s like a fine wine; just getting better with age. But we love him. I love being around him. I love everything that he’s about, and he is a big-time guy for our football team.”

Stafford shook off his rough start to get the Rams back in position for a Blake Corum go-ahead TD run with a 51-yard deep shot to Xavier Smith.

That gave the Rams a 21-17 lead over the Panthers with under two minutes to go in the half.

The Rams are seeking their 10th win, which would match their 2025 win total. It is a strong start, but this is a team chasing another Super Bowl berth, particularly following the disappointment of their finish in 2024, when they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Playoffs.
