In a dramatic comeback win over the surging Indianapolis Colts, the Los Angeles Rams got a statement win over one of the better teams in the AFC. The hero this week was Rams WR Puka Nacua, who absolutely shredded the Colts secondary to the tune of 13 catches for 170 yards and a touchdown. He was absurdly productive, coming in clutch with the game-tying touchdown and first-down conversion after first-down conversion in critical, game-swinging moments.
Towards the end of the first half, Nacua appeared to suffer a thumb injury. He briefly went into the locker room but didn’t miss much time on the field, returning to carve up the Colts throughout the second half. After the game, he spoke to reporters in the locker room about his injury status.
“I got rolled up on one of the run plays. There’s some big human beings over there, and sometimes they win the battle every once in a while,” Nacua said with a chuckle. When asked if the team’s medical staff needed to do anything specific to get him back on the field, he said he was fine. “No, luckily we were able to see that everything was good and then just make sure I could go out there and catch a past from [Stafford] first.”
Nacua is on pace to shatter NFL receiving records this year. He already has 42 receptions for 503 yards and that touchdown through just four games. Los Angeles has a critical division matchup against the 49ers on Thursday Night Football this week, so it’s good news that Nacua shouldn’t miss any time. They’ll need their top target on the field with first place in the NFC West on the line.
Los Angeles Rams HC Sean McVay on WR Puka Nacua’s Injury and Performance

“Yeah, he got his thumb banged up a little bit,” McVay said in his press conference after the game. “He came out and looked pretty good in the second half, what did you think? Think he was okay? Yeah he’s gonna be all right,” McVay said with a smile.
“He’s a stud,” McVay continued. “I mean, what a tough, gritty — there’s so many guys. I love this team. I love the way they just continue to respond to whatever is presented. Puka epitomizes that, but so do a lot of the guys.”
A Huge Divisional Game Looms for the Los Angeles Rams
The Rams will play their first divisional game of the year on Thursday Night Football against the 49ers. With just a four-day turnaround from Sunday’s win over the Colts, Los Angeles needs to put this game behind them and focus on what’s ahead quickly.
49ers QB Brock Purdy is questionable for that game after re-aggravating his toe injury on Sunday. It’s an opportunity for the Rams to claim sole lead in the division, and to start a bit of a run. After the 49ers, they play the Ravens, Jaguars, and Saints before traveling to San Francisco for a rematch. The Rams are firmly in the Super Bowl hunt, and Nacua is having the kind of season that can win it all.
