The New York Rangers suffered yet another loss on November 18 to the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The defeat drops the team down to sixth in the Metropolitan Division with just 22 points in 21 games. They now have more losses than any other team in the division.
While New York’s place in the standings is frustrating fans, the situation is compounded when supporters feel a player is not giving his all. This is even more of an issue when the player happens to be the team captain. Reporter Steven Pappas took to X following the recent defeat to point out a specific play in the game involving J.T. Miller.
In the uploaded snippet, Miller is seen losing out on a loose puck and then seemingly giving up on the play as Golden Knights forward Pavel Dorofeyev easily skates away. Dorofeyev ultimately found teammate Ben Hutton for a goal to extend the team’s lead in the game. Vegas went on to win the game 3-2 on the night.
Pappas included a caption of “From the guy that brought you ‘No BS,’ here’s some BS” on the post. The social media upload has over 400,000 views and has been circulated by various Ranger fans on the platform.
J.T. Miller Previously Hoped New York Rangers Would be Aggressive, ‘In-Your-Face’ Team
GettyJ.T. Miller was named captain of the New York Rangers in September.
The mention of “No BS” refers to t-shirts previously donned by Rangers players during training camp in September. Miller, who was named captain of the Rangers ahead of the 2025-26 season, was specifically asked about the shirts at the time.
“We want to be a fast, in-your-face, F-U type of team,” replied Miller, as reported by The Athletic. “What are (other teams) going to say about the Rangers in their room? What do we want them to think about us? ‘They’re a team that’s not going to give you an easy night.’”
The Rangers, however, have not proven to be this type of team so far during the 2025-26 campaign. After a slow start, which included a seven-game season-opening home winless streak, Miller previously called out the team in hopes of turning things around.
“You just can’t be OK with coming out flat,” Miller said in October, as reported by The New York Post. “We’re in no position to come out flat. Be in the right mindset. We’re ready to go. We got outplayed again in the first period. It kind of set the tone.”
Star’s Statistics Have Plummeted as Injury Rumors Swirl
Miller was brought in by the Rangers via trade in January. New York sent a first-round pick, Filip Chytil, and Victor Mancini to the Vancouver Canucks to bring the star back to the Big Apple. Vancouver made the deal due to a reported feud between Miller and center Elias Pettersson.
Miller’s reunion with the Rangers got off to a solid start following the trade. He recorded 35 points in 32 regular-season games with New York. Nevertheless, the forward’s numbers have significantly dropped during the 2025-26 campaign. Miller has picked up just 10 total points in 21 matchups so far this season. And only five of these points have come at five-on-five hockey.
There have been rumors that Miller’s slow start to the season has been affected by an injury. The star winger, however, has featured in every Rangers matchup this season and is averaging over 20 minutes on the ice per game. He has not averaged this TOI during an entire season since 2022-23 with the Canucks.
