Rasmus Hojlund has directly hit back at one football fan after he made ‘disturbing’ comments about the Manchester United star.

The 21-year-old has been under immense scrutiny since moving to Old Trafford in 2022, having scored 12 goals in 43 Premier League appearances.

While a respectable return for a young striker, it is hardly encouraging for a player who cost £72million, with former United striker Michael Owen claiming the Dane ‘has been given a poisoned chalice’.

18 months into his spell at the club and fans have begun to lose patience with Hojlund, though one United supporter’s criticism went too far for the player’s liking.

Following United’s 2-0 loss at Wolves on Boxing Day, Instagram user ‘utdfamee’ shared a Twitter post from another fan that slated Hojlund and former manager Erik ten Hag.

In his captain he added: ‘Erik ten Hag needs to be trialled in court for the signing of Rasmus Hojlund.

‘Lock him up and throw away the key. When your starting No.9’s most notorious attribute is whining his backside on defenders, you know you’re in trouble.

‘The TL will bring up the fact that he doesn’t get service, but that’s what happens when you can’t anticipate or position yourself into those goalscoring areas.

‘The trampoline touch and lack of hold-up play, too? The £72m package has never looked so limited.’

The post received backlash from fellow United fans, who called for Hojlund to receive more support, before the player himself privately responded to ‘utdfamee’.

The message, which was shared publicly by the user, read: ‘Hi, I find your post a bit disturbing, mate.

‘You are right to have your opinion, but stop talking about things you know nothing about. That is all.’

It remains to be seen whether Hojlund has a future at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim, with the prolific Viktor Gyokeres tipped to follow the Portuguese from Sporting Lisbon.

With Marcus Rashford exiled, Amorim needs the Danish international to rediscover his shooting boots with a tough few games on the horizon.
