People are going to be talking about the Detroit Lions vs. Baltimore Ravens Monday Night Football game that went down on September 22 for a long time. While there was a lot of anticipation about this event, it ended up being an better matchup than expected. In the end, the Detroit Lions came to a stunning victory, 38-30, and they weren’t event at home.
In the NFL, it’s never easy to lose, and doing an interview after a high-profile loss like the Ravens suffered at home on Monday Night Football had to be rough. But, these players are professionals, and they realize that they have to do these interviews no matter who wins.
Of course, it was a lot easier for players such as Lions quarterback Jared Goff to wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown to talk after the game, but it was tougher for Ravens franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson, who was sacked seven times during the game.
Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson Talks Loss to Detroit Lions
Following the matchup, Jackson talked to the media about the surprise loss. He was kind and gracious, but he was also obviously perturbed.
“(The Lions) were doing stunts, and they had a spy. Sometimes the spy was grabbing my leg, and that’s just what it was,” he said. “They were dropping into coverage, (and) they had three safeties back there, and I’m just not going to throw a Hail-Mary ball. I’m going to read the coverage out, and then try to make something happen.”
So, the Lions’ defense was obviously on point during the game, and they were able to contain one of the greatest quarterbacks out there.
Following the game, Goff and Jackson had a moment on the field, and they both looked like they handled it in a classy way.
Also after the game, Ravens coach John Harbaugh talked about how Jackson faced a lot of pressure on the field.
‘I don’t think you could just put it in one category. We threw the ball pretty well, and Lamar made some extended plays,” he said. “He made some on time throws, tried to move around in the pocket and make some plays. They got us on some sacks when you’re trying to throw the ball like that at the end of the game, too.”
He added, So, I’m not sure what your question is, really, but they played good defense, and we were competing on offense. We didn’t run the ball as well as we wanted to, either. That had a lot to do with it. I think I’d like to see us run the ball better.”
Detroit Lions Player Has Career High
Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery was named the “Player of the Game” after the game, and the Detroit Lions announced that he had a career high on the ground.
When the came was over, Montgomery had 12 carries, 151 rush yards and two touchdowns. He also had an impressive 72-yard run? Congratulations are certainly in order for Montgomery.
