Ravens Sign Former First Round Pick to Practice Squad After Visit

The Baltimore Ravens are off to a troubling 1-3 start, as injuries have crippled their depth on both sides of the ball.

To help address the issue, they are calling on former first-round pick Kenyon Green. The 15th overall pick from 2022 was waived by the Philadelphia Eagles last week. He will join the Ravens’ practice squad, the team announced Tuesday.

Green didn’t make the Eagles’ initial 53-man roster but stuck around on the team’s practice squad. He was acquired from the Houston Texans in March as part of the return in the C.J. Gardner-Johnson deal.

The Ravens host the Texans (1-3) on Sunday (1 p.m. ET).

Green Looks to Redeem Himself in Baltimore

Green didn’t help the Eagles, but at 24, he’s still young enough to possibly contribute in Baltimore.

The 6-foot-4, 323-pounder was a first team All-American at Texas A&M and a finalist for the Lombardi Award, given to the nation’s top lineman, but he’s struggled to adjust to the NFL. In 14 starts as a rookie, he was Pro Football Focus’ lowest-graded guard among those played in at least 10 games.

After missing his second season with a shoulder injury, Green returned to play 12 games (nine starts) in 2024 before being benched.

All-Pro left tackle Ronnie Stanley aggravated an ankle injury in Sunday’s 37-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, limiting their depth to Roger Rosengarten and Joe Noteboom. Seventh-round rookie Garrett Dellinger (Cleveland Browns) and Nick Sarmac (Carolina Panthers) have signed with other teams’ practice squads.

Injuries Ravaging Struggling Ravens

The Ravens’ defense has been hampered by several injuries, none more significant than tackle Nnamdi Madubuike. The All-Pro tackle was placed on season-ending injured reserve last week with a neck injury. He’s been joined on IR by defensive end Broderick Washington (ankle).

Madubuike began experiencing symptoms following a Week 2 win over the Browns. The team has been mum on the matter, and according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, there is “uncertainty whether the neck injury could be a career-threatening one.”

It’s a devastating blow for a defense that has allowed an NFL-worst 33.3 points per game this season.

“I really can’t speak for (Madubuike),” Ravens head coach John Harbaugh told ESPN. “Those are questions that would best by answered by him going forward, and he may be still getting some information on that as well.”

Madubuike, 27, had two sacks in two games this season, giving him 21.5 sacks since the start of the 2023 season.
