Ravens Veteran Star Named as ‘Player to Watch’ Ahead of Trade Deadline

We’re only six weeks into the 2025 NFL season, and already things are on the brink of total disaster for the Baltimore Ravens. They are 1-5 through six games and look nothing like the Super Bowl contender they were billed as entering the year.

After giving up a 15-point fourth-quarter lead on the road in Buffalo in Week 1, the Ravens have been unable to recover. Their defense has been the main culprit, grading as one of the worst in the league. The Ravens have also been beset by injuries, with key contributors like LB Roquan Smith, DT Nnamdi Madubuike, CB Marlon Humphrey, LT Ronnie Stanley, and CB Chidobe Awuzie missing considerable time. Madubuike is out for the year.

Thankfully, Baltimore’s bye week is this week, and it gives them a chance to take a step back, reset their approach, and get healthy. Two-time MVP QB Lamar Jackson should be back from his hamstring injury in Week 8, giving the team hope that they can be competitive again.

Could Baltimore Ravens TE Mark Andrews Be On the Move?

As the NFL trade deadline rapidly approaches on November 4, trade speculation is fueled for the underperforming teams. No team has fallen shorter of expectations this year than the Ravens, and they already sent ED Odafe Oweh to the Chargers to shed some money against the cap.

The Athletic’s Mike Jones broke down 10 players to watch at this year’s trade deadline, and he highlighted Ravens TE Mark Andrews as one of those names to keep an eye on. “Tight end is a spot where Baltimore has some depth with Isaiah Likely now healthy again,” Jones said in part. “Could Andrews, who is in the final year of his contract, be on the move?”

Andrews is a former third-round pick out of Oklahoma in 2018. On the season, he has 21 catches for 174 yards and two touchdowns. His best season as a Raven came in 2021, when he had 107 receptions for 1,361 yards and 10 touchdowns, making first-team All-Pro that year. He’s made three Pro Bowls and is generally regarded as one of the better tight ends in the league, even as his production has dipped and he’s battled injuries in recent seasons.

Can the Baltimore Ravens Settle In After a Rough Start?

Despite few 1-5 teams ever recovering to make the playoffs, the Ravens still believe they have a shot. For as bad as things have looked, Baltimore has played a brutal schedule, with their fives losses coming against the Bills, Lions, Chiefs, Texans, and Rams — teams that are a combined 17-12.

After their bye week, the Ravens play the Bears, Dolphins, Vikings, Browns, Jets, Bengals, Steelers, and Bengals. That’s a far easier stretch, and with Jackson back under center the Ravens have reason to believe they can go on a run. Can they actually make a serious playoff push? That remains to be seen, but it will be difficult. Regardless, with improved health, the Ravens should be a tougher out moving forward.
