Real Madrid vs Arsenal preview
Arsenal travel to the Santiago Bernabeu brimming with confidence and a clear objective: avoid a defeat by three clear goals.
If that’s achieved, then Mikel Arteta’s men will seal their place in the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2009.
According to Opta, the Gunners have an 89.7% chance of progressing, and spirits are understandably high following their commanding performance in the first leg.

In three previous meetings, Arsenal remain undefeated (W2 D1) and are yet to concede a goal. Another shutout would see them become the first side in European Cup/Champions League history to keep four consecutive clean sheets against Los Blancos.
Arteta’s side have been prolific in Europe this season, averaging 2.55 goals per game while conceding just 0.55 – a combined tally of 28 goals scored and only six conceded.
History also favours the Gunners. In 53 encounters with English clubs in the competition, Real Madrid have won by a margin of more than three goals on just two occasions.
So on paper, the prospect of Real Madrid overturning the deficit looks far-fetched.
That said, if there’s one team capable of rewriting the script in this competition, it’s Real Madrid.
Their love affair with the Champions League is well-documented, and despite a patchy run of form and a narrow win over Alaves at the weekend, they’ve overturned a first-leg away defeat an astonishing 25 times in UEFA competitions.
